This week, to celebrate 125 years of OCS, teams from around the world are taking on the OCS 125 Challenge. From 15-21 September, more than 150 teams are walking, running, cycling (and everything in between!) to complete 125 virtual miles (201km) to raise funds for local charities making a real difference. In New Zealand, 4 teams including one from 1M, are stepping up to support The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga & Samoa in New Zealand. Since 1883, they’ve helped over 120,000 families and individuals each year through budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes, and more. Their impact continues to be felt across the country, especially during times of need. As we approach the Christmas season, every donation counts. In 2024, 1M: 🔧 Supported 11 apprentices across HVAC and electrical trades ♻️ Achieved a 58% reduction in waste to landfill 🚛 Cut fuel emissions by 30% through fleet upgrades and efficiency tracking 🏅 Gained Toitū Net Carbon Zero certification We’re continuing to invest in practical ways to improve how we work — from onsite safety to smart emissions data — with a clear focus on building capability and reducing our footprint. We're delighted to welcome Jared Miller, Partinder Bath and Ruben van Biljon to the 1M team. These three new apprentices are beginning their electrical apprenticeships with us - supported by our trusted partners at Skills Group and ETCO. Richard Harman from Skills Group joined us on-site to assist with their enrolment, marking the first step in what will be a hands-on, future-focused apprenticeship experience. Thanks to 1M's Byron Keppler and Izak Scheepers, who will be mentoring these new apprenticeships on their learning journey.
