It was great to have our CFO Andrew Murray join Sharesies to discuss the sale of our Consumer business and our strategic focus on our Ingredients and Foodservice channels. Listen to the episode below to learn more.
Fonterra talks proteins and profits Can Fonterra maximise returns for farmers while taking risks off the table? We’re joined by Andrew Murray, Group Chief Financial Officer for the dairy exporter. Andrew walks us through the $4.22B NZD sale of Fonterra’s consumer business and their new laser focus on high-return channels like ingredients and food service. “When I was growing up, we drank milk. People are not doing that as much anymore. They'll have a protein powder or a protein shake or a protein bar… so the demand for ingredients is incredibly high, and I just don't see that changing.” 🍎 https://lnkd.in/gpipE22t 💚 https://lnkd.in/giWVfMMh 📺 https://lnkd.in/g9Ssbmzw Shared Lunch is brought to you by Sharesies. 🧈 We’re thrilled to announce a $75 million investment to expand butter production at our Clandeboye site in South Canterbury – part of the next phase of strategic investments signalled at our recent Annual Results. The investment will enable construction of a new butter line at Clandeboye, expanding the site’s current butter production capacity by up to 50,000 MT per annum. The new butter line at Clandeboye will expand the Co-op's capacity to produce a range of butter formats, tailored for both global ingredients customers and professional kitchens. Global demand for high-quality butter is accelerating, with forecasts showing growth of more than 60,000 MT by 2034. This investment strengthens the Co-op's ability to meet that demand while unlocking more value from every drop of New Zealand milk. Construction begins in December, with the first product expected off the line in April 2027. The project will also create 16 new roles at Clandeboye and support local contractors during the build phase. Delighted to be recognised with the New Zealand Food Awards Supreme Award yesterday for our Anchor Food Professionals Easy Bakery Cream 🍰 Launched in late 2024, the cream was designed to meet the growing demand in China's bakery segment, and has gained strong traction in market, offering functionality at a competitive price, while complementing our Whipping Cream offering. This achievement reflects the result of collaboration and innovation across teams, driving growth and delivering solutions that resonate with our customers. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! 👏
We’re honoured to announce the winner of the Supreme Award sponsored by Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa is Fonterra for its Easy Bakery Cream. The judging panel commended the team at Fonterra for its exceptional technical innovation in developing Easy Bakery Cream, achieving consistent whipping performance and stability with only 30 per cent fat — a notable reduction from the traditional 35 per cent — while using 100 per cent New Zealand pasture-fed milk. “This posed a significant challenge, as lower fat content typically compromises a cream’s ability to whip and hold structure. The team’s breakthrough came through the creation of a patented formulation that delivers comparable yield, stability, and functionality to higher-fat creams, with the added benefit of a lighter taste that complements fruit and dessert applications.” The judges also noted the company’s impressive management of seasonal milk variation, a natural challenge of pasture-fed production. “Ongoing refinement of the formulation and processing techniques ensures bakers receive a consistently reliable, high-performing product year-round.” #NewZealandFood #NewZealandFoodAwards #NZFoodAwards

The relentless pursuit of a symphony of small solutions together orchestrating big impact Biggest thanks are reserved for my team: Tomasz Soluch and Suwan Meng – you have sat in the driver’s seat scouting, sense making and scaling an ecosystem that works for Fonterra. FY25 has been one of the Co-op’s strongest years yet for shareholder returns and the third consecutive year of strong earnings, both reflecting a step change in the Co-op’s performance as we continue to home in on our strategic priorities. We made bold strides in strengthening our Ingredients and Foodservice businesses by moving to a global channel-led structure and appointing Richard Allen (Ingredients) and Teh-han Chow (Foodservice) as the Presidents of these businesses, helping us sharpen our customer focus and unlock new opportunities across international markets. On the ground, we’ve been busy. Construction is underway at our Studholme and Edendale sites, where new manufacturing capacity will bring high-value advanced proteins and UHT cream products to market in 2026, meeting customer and global demand. These investments are designed to shift more of our farmers’ milk into higher-returning channels – a core part of our strategy. And we’re not stopping there. We’re assessing a pipeline of growth opportunities, with plans to invest up to $1 billion over the next three to four years. This includes expanding our protein portfolio, unlocking more value from milkfat through new butter and cream cheese capability, and driving operational excellence via automation and AI.
