Not long ago, conversations in the United States about macadamias were filled with doubt: · Are they unhealthy? · Will they make my dog sick? · Are they only for cookies or indulgent treats? Today, that social media narrative has shifted. Thanks to consistent storytelling and industry-wide engagement in this market, macadamias are increasingly seen as: · A source of good fats and natural functionality · A fit for modern wellness and snacking trends · Versatile across both sweet and savoury dishes And the impact with American consumers speaks for itself - from a standing start in 2022 we have grown today to: · 50K+ social followers · 500K+ monthly impressions · A growing community reshaping how the world views macadamias with powerful user-generated content From confusion to clarity, and from niche indulgence to everyday relevance, macadamias are on their way to becoming the next “it” food. We love the opportunity to connect with the macadamia industry and the annual Macadamias South Africa NPC (SAMAC) Mac Day provides a perfect environment to do this with the African-based growers, processors, and handlers. The WMO has partners who are integral in the delivery of our work, and this year Michele H. who leads our United States digital marketing activities at Fishbat Media, Mansi Ahuja who is the Principal at AMPRO Marketing and WMO representative in India, and Yiyi Zhang who oversees the nut portfolio from the China Chamber of Commerce attended and presented at Mac Day. We received such great feedback on their presentations and discussion groups, they really brought to life what it takes to develop markets and change consumer behaviours over time. The trade landscape is changing so quickly and has implications for the macadamia industry. We workshopped what current and future supply looks like, with a ‘by style’ lens and also some future demand scenarios. The combined insights from our members were invaluable, and this will be an important input as we reset our five-year strategy in the months ahead. Thanks to Macadamias South Africa NPC (SAMAC) for hosting an excellent event. #worldmacadamiaorganisation #wmo #lovemacadamia #macadamianuts #macadamias #samacmacday

Macadamia consumption in China has tripled between 2019 and 2024. This growth has been accompanied by a notable shift in consumption patterns - from predominantly formal gifting occasions towards more frequent, informal snacking. Despite Chinese consumers’ generally strong awareness of nutrition, perceptions of macadamias remain limited. Many continue to view them as fattening, overlooking their well-documented nutritional profile. At the recent CFNA trade event, Professor Ma of Peking University emphasised the health benefits of macadamias, drawing attention to their high content of mono-unsaturated fats (MUFAs) and low glycaemic index. A video of this presentation can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/es3RunZt Enhancing nutritional understanding is essential to ensuring sustained, high-value demand for macadamias in China. This will be a critical focus for the industry as we work to support long-term market development. #wmo #worldmacadamiaorganisation #lovemacadamia #macadamias #macadamianuts #CFNA #chinainternationaltreenutsconference

India is a dynamic and vibrant market, and this month, we had the privilege of introducing (or reintroducing) eighteen WMO members to the nut trade in the bustling cities of Delhi and Mumbai. Nuts are vitally important to India’s food consumption and rituals, however macadamias are new and emerging – we see significant future potential. Under the expert guidance of the AMPRO Marketing team, we explored macadamias across the retail and wholesale landscape, from traditional markets to premium stores, leading distributors to ecommerce. In Mumbai, we participated in the MEWA trade show, hosted by Nuts and Dry Fruits Council (India). This three-day event offered invaluable conversations and insights during the day, while the evenings were filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of shape-cutting on the dance floor - with traditional stick dancing as a highlight! A sincere thank you to the Nuts and Dry Fruits Council (India), AMPRO Marketing, VKC Nuts Pvt Ltd, Urban Platter, Food Square India, Nutty Gritties, TAJIR PRIVATE LIMITED, and all our trade partners and delegates for making our visit to India both insightful and rewarding. Experiencing the market firsthand was invaluable, reinforcing India’s position as a thriving market with plenty of opportunities for growth. #macadamias #macadamianuts #wmo #lovemacadamia #lovemacadamiaindia #MEWA

We have been working to spread the word about macadamia nuts to consumers looking for nutrition tips in 2025 and it’s great to see macadamias featuring on high profile food trend and nutrition guidelines for the new year. Verywell published a useful guide to what happens when you eat macadamia nuts, noting when added to a balanced diet, macadamia nuts may help you lose weight, boost your heart health, lessen your risk of cancer, and lower your chances of developing diabetes, among other benefits. EatingWell has rated macadamia nuts as one of seven anti-inflammatory foods to stock up on in the new year, while Food & Wine magazine has included macadamia milk in its food trend predictions for 2025. Meanwhile, eating macadamia nuts was one of Bryan Johnson’s top tips for longevity at his recent Don’t Die Summit in Los Angeles. Check out the links in the comments below, thanks to our media partners and Bryan Johnson. #wmo #worldmacadamiaorganisation #lovemacadamia #macadamias #macadamianuts image via EatingWell
