You’re working on a project with a tight budget. What can you do to make sure you stay within it?
Be aware of the some of the trade offs involved in a cost controlled environment: - ideally in a systems replacement project, decommissioning the replaced systems should be costed for but a cost squeeze may mean this activity gets pushed further out - operational costs tend to be underestimated. Choosing open source may seem a cheap option in the short run but patching, updates and security assessments may make this a much more expensive option in the long run. Choosing software as a service may be better option depending on your overall cost envelope.
