Dhofar University (DU) is a private, not-for-profit institution of higher education in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, established by Ministerial Decree No. 5/2004, issued in January 2004. It has a Board of Trustees that represents its highest policy making body. DU formally commenced its operations in September 2004 .
Academic Programs
DU is among the first private university in the Sultanate modeled after the American system of higher education. It offers diploma, bachelor and Master degree programs in various disciplines and majors.
There are currently FIVE colleges at DU: College of Arts and Applied Sciences (CAAS), College of Commerce and Business Administration (CCBA), College of Law(CL), College of Engineering (CE) and College of Medicine(CM). These colleges offer more than 50 bachelors programs and 20 master programs. DU is nationally accredited from OAAAQA and internationally it's College of Arts and Applied Sciences from AQAS.
DU has great research output track record and its faculty are publishing their research in Scopus indexed impact factor journals. DU Research Center is actively engaged in research on Frankincense and already has registered patents to its credit.
DU mission is to provide quality teaching and learning, conduct research in an inspiring environment conducive to creativity and innovation, and engage with the community.
