The CLASCO project was represented by Prof. Dr. Gesa Beck and Marta Revello from ABCircular GmbH, who offered both scientific input and practical methods for assessing sustainability in material processing and surface engineering.
Prof. Gesa Beck delivered a comprehensive lecture addressing:
- The relevance and methodology of sustainability measurements
- Eco-Design principles and the concept of Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD)
- Environmental, Social, and Economic Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
These topics were explored through the lens of a detailed CLASCO case study, highlighting the project’s contributions to improved sustainability evaluation in industrial contexts.
Marta Revello followed with a practice-oriented workshop, applying a multi-criteria assessment framework for life cycle analysis. Participants engaged with real-world examples and discussed the integration of LCA findings into decision-making processes.
This contribution underlines CLASCO’s role in fostering sustainability competencies in manufacturing, especially in laser-based surface engineering, supporting Europe’s path toward greener production strategies.
