Turns out, it’s more than you'd expect...... and each one plays a critical role in keeping facilities safe, compliant, and disaster-resilient. I recently went through a comprehensive reference deck titled "Technical Standards for Oil Refineries" by Majid Khan (Senior Engineer – Process & Safety). It covers over 30+ standards from NFPA, API, ANSI, BS, and ICC that form the foundation of fire safety design and compliance in refineries. Here are a few that stood out: 🔹 API RP 2001 – Fire protection in refineries 🔹 NFPA 15 – Water spray fixed systems 🔹 API RP 2021 – Management of tank fires 🔹 NFPA 20 – Fire pump design 🔹 BS 5908 – Fire precautions in chemical industries Whether it’s foam systems, portable extinguishers, storage tank fires, or fireproofing practices, each standard adds a critical layer of defense. Designing fire protection in refineries isn’t about just picking the right nozzle or pump. It’s about aligning every decision with the right technical code for the right hazard. CV should highlight: project experience, discipline-specific expertise, certifications. b) Document Verification ARAMCO reviews educational certificates, experience certificates, safety training records (HSE, PTW, etc.). c) Written Test / Interview 👉🏻ARAMCO conducts discipline-specific technical interview or written test. 👉🏻Example: Electrical Engineers may be asked about NEC, IEC, grounding, hazardous area classification. 👉🏻Mechanical/Commissioning professionals may be asked about API standards, pre-commissioning, punch listing, handover process. d) Approval Issuance 👉🏻Once you pass, your name is entered into ARAMCO’s Approved List. 👉🏻Then you can work on ARAMCO projects (valid only for the discipline you are approved in). 3️⃣ Key Requirements 👉🏻Certifications add weight (API, NACE, PMP, OSHA, NEBOSH depending on role). 👉🏻Strong knowledge of standards (API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, NFPA, ISA). The answer of the question is: 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗵. The critical path is simultaneously the 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 of dependent activities AND determines the 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 to complete your project. This may sound contradictory at first, so here's the explanation: 🔹 The critical path is the longest path in terms of duration because it's the path where if any activity is delayed, the entire project completion is delayed. 🔹 Since it governs the overall project duration, completing the critical path on time means completing the project in the shortest possible duration. 💡 So, it's the longest path in terms of time, but it also defines the shortest time in which the project can be finished. #planning #scheduling
