I’m pleased to share that Ahold Delhaize has secured another European Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA), this time supporting the development of a new onshore wind farm in Romania, owned by our partners, HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings (HELLENiQ ENERGY).   Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate 309 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual electricity usage of approximately 89,000 Romanian households. Ahold Delhaize will contract approximately 50% of the wind farm’s output and will receive Guarantees of Origin (renewable energy certificates) for a period of twelve years. This expansion represents another step towards our ambition to reduce emissions associated with electricity consumption to zero by 2035. Electricity prices in Europe increased significantly in July https://lnkd.in/dW8K-DAX In the EU, the average monthly wholesale day-ahead prices were higher than in June, which was, in particular, caused by weather conditions in the region at the beginning of the month.

Stokado, the second-largest operator in the rapidly growing Polish self-storage market, has completed the construction of a new, state-of-the-art self-storage facility in Kraków. The building, offering over 5,000 sqm of net lettable area (NLA), will be the first self-storage development in Poland to be commissioned with full BREEAM certification from the development stage, rather than under the In-Use scheme typically applied to existing facilities. It also marks Stokado’s first development project delivered since its acquisition by Griffin and Redefine in 2023. "Since acquiring Stokado in 2023, we’ve focused on expanding the platform in key urban areas. Our ambition goes beyond Kraków and Warsaw, and we are set to grow further into other Polish cities, with the next developments already underway and several prime plots secured in high-growth locations. By the end of 2025, we plan to break ground on three new facilities across the country, each designed to minimise environmental impact and maximise customer convenience," says Piotr Fijolek, Co-Managing Partner at Griffin Capital Partners. 💥 Big milestone for Sunly - and a big boost for renewable energy in Latvia 🇱🇻 We’ve secured €85 million in senior debt from European Investment Bank (EIB), SEB and EBRD to complete the construction of 329 MW of solar PV across four sites: Valmiera, Barkava, Zirni and Dagda. This is the largest solar PV financing in the Baltics to date for Sunly - and I couldn’t be prouder of the team Sunly who made it happen: legal, environmental, project and execution – all working as one. Vetropack: Stories behind our glassworks✨ The story of Moldovan glassworks began with a bold vision. In 1995, the Glass Container Company was founded with the support of Moldovan investors and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Just two years later, in August 1997, the company produced its first glass bottle – an ambitious beginning, made possible by a single melting furnace and two eight-section IS machines. As demand for high-quality glass containers grew, so did the company’s aspirations. The goal was not only to expand production but also to enter the flint glass segment. By 2004, demand had already exceeded capacity by over 40%, with the company importing and reselling large volumes to meet customer needs. In response, planning began for a second furnace – a bold decision given the uncertainty of the global financial crisis. Despite the challenging backdrop, the new furnace and two ten-section IS machines were successfully commissioned by 2010. The momentum continued. In 2019, the first furnace was completely rebuilt, with the addition of a third production line and electric boosting technology ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality molten glass. A major milestone followed in December 2020, when the Vetropack Group acquired the Moldovan glass companies, including Glass Container Company and Glass Container Prim. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey towards aligning with the Group's standards. Today, the Moldovan plants play a vital role within the Vetropack network, supplying premium glass packaging for wine, sparkling wine, beer, mineral water, oil and other products. With its strong legacy and clear vision for the future, Vetropack Chișinău is a symbol of resilience, innovation and a commitment to quality.
