A ceasefire has finally been agreed in Gaza. People have lost loved ones, homes, businesses and access to the basic necessities they need to survive. Deaths from starvation continue to rise. The humanitarian need is catastrophic. Our local teams, partners and DEC member charities are preparing to restart all operations as soon as it’s possible to do so. • Oxfam in partnership with Gaza Culture and Development Group are on the ground, distributing essential food vouchers to families affected by Israel’s genocide in Gaza. While famine conditions are still spreading, food is coming in to markets through commerical suppliers, but most people cannot afford to buy food now. These vouchers empower families to have vital food resources, helping them meet their immediate needs during this war. By supporting food security, we aim to support families as they navigate these incredibly challenging times. While this assistance is crucial, we still need a permanent #CeasefireNow, and unfettered entry of aid to help people in need. #Oxfam #Gaza #FoodSecurity #Aid #Solidarity

  • New Oxfam Report 📢 Twenty five years after governments promised to put women at the center of peace and security, most of those commitments remain unfulfilled. Oxfam and Researchers Without Borders' latest report 'Beyond Rhetoric: Feminist Leadership for a Transformative Women, Peace and Security Agenda at 25' reveals a staggering gap between words and action: ▶️Military spending rose by $1.5 trillion in 2024. ▶️Aid for gender equality and peace fell by 7%. ▶️Just 0.1% of total aid reaches local women’s rights organizations directly. From Colombia to South Sudan, the DRC to Occupied Palestinian Territory, feminist peacebuilders are holding shattered communities together, even as states divert resources towards war and repression. Feminist peace hasn’t failed, it’s been betrayed. It’s time to move beyond rhetoric to real accountability, resources, and justice. • Once the owner of Gaza’s largest nursery, Ahmad rebuilds his life from the ashes of war — determined to keep farming despite destruction and displacement. With support from the oPt Humanitarian Fund (oPt HF), ESDC, and Oxfam, he rehabilitated his nursery with artificial soil, seeds, and water pipelines. But his nurseries have been destroyed several times, forcing him to move them during repeated displacements. Now, just two months after restarting in western Gaza City, Israel is forcing him to evacuate south once again. Ahmad says, “Every time I establish a nursery, I am forced to move it. Now I must evacuate to the south and move the nursery again… I don’t know what to do.” We call for a permanent #CeasefireNow

  • A ceasefire in Gaza is desperately needed, but it must be the start of real change. Humanitarian access must be full, unrestricted, and immediate. It must end Israel’s unlawful occupation and blockade. It must be focused on restoring Palestinian rights and rebuilding lives. The world must act to ensure this ceasefire holds and leads to lasting peace.
