🌱 The energy transition of Serbia and the wider region cannot be viewed in isolation - it is a shared challenge and an opportunity for sustainable development, but the obstacles along this path must be addressed collectively. This was one of the key conclusions of the OIE Srbija 2025 Conference.  Regional experts in the field led crucial discussions on shaping a realistic path to decarbonization, joined by many guests and participants considered essential for creating the conditions to turn this industry’s plans and ambitions into reality. The conference was also attended by Plamena Halacheva, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia. New Energy Solutions was represented by Miloš Colić and Marijan Rančić, whose messages highlighted both the challenges and perspectives within the renewable energy sector. Miloš Colić emphasized that Serbia’s energy transition is already taking concrete shape, but that the country is falling behind on its 2030 targets: “Early October is expected to mark the start of operations of the first turbines at the Čibuk 2 wind farm. This is just one of the projects confirming that Serbia has the potential, but also the responsibility, to continue rapidly developing new capacities and delivering already approved and planned facilities for energy production, as this is only the second project to come out of previous auctions.” Marijan Rančić stressed that the renewable energy sector is of strategic importance for the country, yet the challenges remain similar across the region: “The renewable energy sector is of immense importance for Serbia. However, the regulatory and infrastructural challenges we face are widely present in neighboring countries as well, which shows that joint efforts and regional cooperation are indispensable.” We believe that the path to decarbonization rests on three pillars: concrete projects, responsible policies, and open dialogue among all stakeholders. Our mission remains clear - from the first document to the final megawatt - to deliver projects that transform Serbia’s energy landscape. We will continue working toward a sustainable future, together with partners, institutions, and communities that share this vision.
