Do you unlock DI and IoC principle? You could take some time in front of your coffee to think about it. Dependency Injection (DI) and Inversion of Control (IoC) are core principles in modern C# development for creating code that's flexible, testable, and easy to maintain. Think of it like a coffee machine that needs water, but doesn't care who or what supplies it. The coffee machine (a high-level class) simply knows it needs an `IWaterProvider` (an abstraction) to function, but it doesn't need to know if the water is coming from a carafe or a faucet. Finally published a new post after a month-long break from writing... Did you know that localhost is treated as a secure context even without TLS? I had no idea until very recently. This allows secure features to work in development, and you can also run multiple apps on localhost with subdomains + ports to separate them. This means you don't need HTTPS locally, most of the time. That said, when you do need local HTTPS, use Caddy server. The article shows how. JavaZone 2025 Yesterday I had the pleasure to give a talk at #JavaZone in #Norway and it was really great. Usually JavaZone happens in Oslo but because there is some construction work going on at the normally used venue, they moved this years edition to Lillestrøm which is a little city 10min away from Oslo. The organizers did a really good job in keeping the JavaZone vibe alive even at another venue...that was sweeeeet 😁 My session was about finding #Zombie code which is code that you do maintain and where you have tests for but that is actually never executed in production. This is a problem that not everyone is affected by but we often see that the bigger and older the code base is, the more Zombie code we find. This code could be complete libraries, that you add as dependencies but then never use. Removing these libraries can bring down the size of your artifacts significantly. Other code could be classes and methods that have been implemented at one time in the past but today nobody really knows if they are actually used or not...so you just keep ithem for this reason. To find Zombie code you need to monitor a running system for quite some time which means it is not an easy task. Quite some time can mean 6-12 months!!! There different ways of finding unused classes and methods e.g. so called #tombstone #logging where you add logging outputs to each class and method. Drawback with this approach is you mainly will find used classes and methods, so you also need to get a list of all classes and methods to find the unused things. You could either use the #ASM tools or the #ClassFile #APi in #JDK23+ to find all classes and methods in your code base. There are also easier ways to get the unused classes and methods with tools like for example Azul #CodeInventory which is part of #Azul #IntelligenceCloud. This will use a #Java #Agent that can be attached to all available distributions of #OpenJDK. The collected info will be forwarded to IntelligenceCloud where you can either use the webinterface or the API to create json reports which contains the used and unused classes and methods. If you don't want to remove all the unused classes and methods manually you could even use #OpenRewrite to automate this procedure because they can access IntelligenceCloud from their side and create the reports and remove unused code if needed. Unfortunately I'm already on my way back home but as always at JavaZone it was a great experience and an honor to be part of it 😁

The best decision you can make in 2025: Begin your .NET journey and here is why: You can build anything. From console application to the IoT applications. During my career I have built mobile, desktop and web application without leaving the .NET ecosystem. And all you need to start is laptop/desktop and good internet connection. Also, If you want to with my roadmap: - Fundamentals of C# and modern programming concepts - Web API development with ASP.NET Core - Databases with Entity Framework Core and front-end basics. Or built you own, but don't skip the fundamentals. But don' get to excited. You just scratch the surface. After that you will need to learn about: - Architecture and best practices - Model business domains right way(e.g. DDD) - Scalability and concurrency - Optimization - Implement caching - Security AuthN/AuthZ, Identity, OAuth - Testing and proper coverage - Review code, branching strategies, and improve PR quality - Hosting Learning is a marathon, not a sprint, so consistency is a key.
