  • Arkion is proud to support Arva AS, one of northern Norway’s largest power providers, in a new collaboration alongside Airpelago. Through this partnership, Arva is adopting a modern inspection process that combines autonomous drone data capture with AI-powered asset analytics — enabling safer, more efficient, and more proactive grid operations across Troms and Nordland. “After many years of manually handling and analyzing condition data, we hope that our collaboration with Airpelago and Arkion will help significantly automate these processes... With this, we believe Arkion can help bring Arva into the future.” — Ragnar Johnsen, Technical Manager, Network Maintenance, Arva Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dV8zNR6d

  • Thank you to everyone who joined our recent webinar on Evaluating AI Models for Power Grid Inspections and Maintenance. The session is available here: https://lnkd.in/dixmxmKb We’re now looking ahead to our next session on November 12, where we’ll be joined by Martin B. from Palantir Technologies to discuss strategies for enterprises deploying AI, and how solutions like Arkion’s fit into the broader journey toward digital transformation in the power sector. • Accurate asset inventory is the foundation of effective grid management — yet for many utilities, keeping track of every component across thousands of transmission structures remains a major challenge. The images below show how AI can fundamentally change this. By automatically identifying and labeling each component on every structure, it becomes possible to achieve a complete, up-to-date view of the grid at scale — something that is nearly impossible to maintain manually. With this data, our client can easily search, filter, and track assets across their entire network, making asset management decisions based on real-world data rather than assumptions or incomplete models. AI-driven inventory doesn’t just improve data quality — it enables smarter planning, predictive maintenance, and a deeper understanding of the grid’s condition over time.

Join us on October 15 for a 30-minute webinar on how to evaluate AI models for power grid inspections and maintenance presented by Arkion's Lead Data Scientist, Uttejh Reddy. AI is increasingly part of grid operations, but knowing how to measure its performance is not always straightforward. Traditional metrics like recall and precision are important, but in practice they only tell part of the story. For you that are working with maintenance, vegetation management, procurement, or data science at utiltiies, the real challenge is understanding how AI translates into reduced workload, improved defect detection, and safer, more reliable operations. In this session, we will walk through guiding principles and practical tips on: - The key performance indicators to track when evaluating AI models. - Common pitfalls in evaluation, including image quality and asset vs. image-level performance. - How to prioritize AI development and deployment using the Pareto effect. The webinar is designed as a hands-on guide for anyone involved in adopting or scaling AI in grid operations.
