Last month, ICMM hosted the third successful ICSV GHG Innovation Session in Sweden — a truly energising milestone in our decarbonisation journey.
The week kicked off with an exclusive visit for our members to Volvo Construction Equipment’s Eskilstuna site and technical center, gaining insights into their technological and decarbonisation pathways.
Special thanks to Atilson Neto, Andrey Komov, Jannicke Serneberg, Fomina Victoria, Johan Bergh, and Niklas Wahlberg, for sharing Volvo Group’s pioneering work with our members, offering invaluable industry leadership.
We then moved to Stockholm for a 1.5-day workshop, exploring critical topics such as safety risks of battery vehicles and high-energy systems, enabling mine site decarbonisation, charging connector interoperability, and navigating decarbonisation pathways. We also heard from experts across marine, shipping, and electrical infrastructure, sharing innovative insights on designing all-electric mines, challenges in shipping decarbonisation, and marine charging solutions.
The week culminated with a visit to Boliden’s Ravliden site — the world’s longest underground battery trolley mine — powered by Epiroc battery electric vehicles and ABB infrastructure. An inspiring, hands-on experience showcasing the future of sustainable mining. Thank you for hosting us and sharing such great insights on your collaborative efforts to successfully deploy electrified fleet, Rikard Mäki, Peter Wallin, Gunnar Strand, Mattias Pettersson, Ratna Kanth Dittakavi
Thanks to all speakers (Daniel Heal, Luke Smith, Brian Weller, Henrik Jevrell, James Helliwell, Nic Beutler, Eduardo Lima, Emma Jones, and Danny O'Reilly), involved organisations (BHP, Anglo American, Caterpillar Inc., Epiroc, Wabtec Corporation, V.Group, and ABB), and our partners GHD for making this a truly impactful event.
Together, we’re driving the decarbonisation of mining equipment and operations — energised and committed for the zero emissions road ahead.
