CEO Johnny Sjöström about SSAB’s interim report for Q3 2025: “We have presented a stable report in a market that remains challenging. SSAB Special Steels division shows that focusing on special steels increases resilience, SSAB Americas presents a stronger development and SSAB Europe continued cautious market. The transformation of Luleå and conversion of Oxelösund sites in Sweden are progressing, with the groundbreaking ceremony in Luleå in September as a key milestone." CEO Johnny Sjöström in SSAB’s interim report for Q3 2025: “SSAB’s operating result for the third quarter of 2025 amounted to SEK 1,869 (1,248) million, representing an increase of SEK 621 million compared to last year, mainly driven by a stronger development in SSAB Americas. Compared to the previous quarter, the operating result declined slightly, primarily due to seasonally lower shipments and planned annual maintenance. The operating cash flow increased significantly to SEK 2,274 (1,428) million. Net cash flow was SEK 227 (116) million.” Read the full report ➡ https://lnkd.in/dSuuxSZP #Q3 #Q3report

Thank you Business Sweden for the Sweden-Japan Sustainability Summit concluding Sweden’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka in the presence of Crown Princess Victoria. In the “Future mobility” session we showcased, together with our fossil-free partners and long-time customers Scania Group and Autoliv, how the strength of partnership, cooperation and common solutions can transform an industry. 🌱 "By having clear and transparent objectives, we show the world that we together can decarbonize an entire value chain and move towards a stronger, lighter, and more sustainable world," said Thomas Hörnfeldt, VP Sustainability at SSAB. #SustainabilitySummit #PioneerThePossible #FossilFreeSteel

We’re building the world’s most electrified steel mill — a first-of-its-kind, high-tech facility in Luleå, Sweden. 🏭 This transformation boosts our competitiveness and climate performance by enabling fossil-free production of premium, high-strength steels. The benefits: ✅ Fossil-free production ✅ Lower fixed costs ✅ Less maintenance ✅ 7% reduction in Sweden’s CO₂ emissions Electric arc furnace (EAF) technology is a proven concept and accounts for 75% of steel production in the United States, including our own operations. We’re not just upgrading — we’re redefining steelmaking. How can we accelerate the clean transition by innovation and how can the EU enable the conditions to support the business case for deployment? 🌱 These were among the topics when SSAB’s Martin Pei and fellow panelists took the stage at the Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) stakeholder conference in Brussels this week. SSAB is committed to our transformation journey and is currently investing more than €5 billion to transform our Swedish steel production system. Together with LKAB and Vattenfall we have developed the breakthrough HYBRIT® technology for fossil-free iron and steel production. “This will not only largely eliminate the CO2 emissions in our value chain but also contribute to safeguarding EU and Nordic industrial competitiveness and support the thousands of customers that rely on SSAB’s high-quality and high-strength steels,” Martin Pei said. It is key that the EU stays the course on decarbonization and ensures a predictable, stable and ambitious climate policy. This includes an intermediate target of at least 90% GHG emission reduction by 2040 to provide a clear path forward and ambitious benchmark for the post-2030 EU climate framework, and continued focus on implementation of the Fit for 55 package. #DGCLIMA #ClimateAction #FossilFreeSteel

This week our Martin Pei and Jesper Kansbod participated in Climate Week NYC. 🌎 SSAB wants to contribute to the discussion and understanding of the importance of decarbonized steels for building sustainable cities, energy systems and transport. We’re engaging with customers to address emissions reductions across the value chain and accelerate decarbonization and competitiveness. We have solutions already today — ready for scale-up and implementation. To move from plans to action and implementation at scale, the steel industry needs a global level playing field. We have pointed out three important factors: ✅ Demand creation policy, underpinned by clear standards and definitions, to create markets for decarbonized materials and products. ✅ A price on carbon dioxide and effective carbon border adjustment mechanisms. ✅ A global trade system that incentivizes trade in decarbonized products, and at the same time secure free and fair trade. We need to start addressing the issue of global overcapacity — where we believe tariff rate quotas is a way forward. Investments in the transformation will only happen if there is a viable business case. Thank you Climate Group, Business Sweden, Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), Mission Possible Partnership, Corporate Leaders Groups, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, We Mean Business Coalition, Climate High-Level Champions and partners for meaningful discussions on how we continue our joint efforts to deliver progress. Next COP30! #ClimateWeekNYC #DecarbonizedSteel #Sustainability

Yesterday we broke ground for our new steel mill in Luleå, Sweden. 👷♀️👷♂️ SSAB is investing EUR 4.5 billion in the world's most modern steel mill. We are replacing blast furnaces with electric arc furnaces and using fossil-free sponge iron and recycled scrap. It is groundbreaking technology that uses energy more efficiently, provides cleaner air and steel with almost zero emissions. An investment in future competitiveness, the new technology makes it possible to combine more advanced products with lower production costs and fossil-free production — steel that is both strong and sustainable. 🌱 “A new chapter in Swedish industrial history is being written now. This means that we are showing, both to ourselves and the rest of the world, that it is possible to reduce our emissions and at the same time combine it with jobs and economic growth,” Sweden’s Minister for Energy, Business and Industry and Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch said. Watch the video from yesterday’s event and learn what Ebba Busch, together with SSAB’s CEO Johnny Sjöström and SSAB Luleå’s Site Manager Lisette Mikaelsson, had to say about the upcoming steel mill ⤵️ #SSABLuleå #SteelMill #GroundBreaking

Happy to share great news! ✨ Today construction of SSAB's new steel mill in Luleå, Sweden, started with the Minister for Energy, Business and Industry and Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch and SSAB's CEO Johnny Sjöström participating in a groundbreaking ceremony. "We are building the world's most electrified steel mill that combines cutting-edge technology in a unique way. It is an investment in both competitiveness and the climate. With the new technology, we get lower costs, shorter lead times and a better ability to handle variations in demand. When we close the current production, we will largely eliminate our carbon dioxide emissions in Luleå," says Johnny Sjöström. The new mill strengthens SSAB’s long-term competitiveness and is expected to reduce Sweden's total carbon dioxide emissions by seven percent. 🌱 Read more on our press release ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dq4HuYJR #SSABLuleå #SteelMill #GroundBreaking
