Tillverkning av nymetaller

Accelerating the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries

  • Stegra is in a financing round! Following strong initial commitments from our existing investors, we're now announcing that we're in a financing round for our large-scale green steel plant in Boden, Sweden. With more than 60% of the project already completed, we have a clear roadmap and detailed plan to reach full completion. With that, we will continue advancing the project with additional strength from this financing round, cementing our unique position in the green steel landscape. At Stegra, we’re shaping the future of the steel industry together with our customers. That’s where real change happens. Last week, it was a real highlight to welcome many of them to our Boden plant and show the progress we’ve made firsthand! They’re not just part of our development – they’re at the heart of the project. Our customers showed their personal commitment to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries by signing a steel beam from our DRI tower, leaving a lasting mark on the construction itself. Thank you for being part of the journey BAMESA, BE Group Sverige AB, BILSTEIN GmbH & Co. KG, Cargill Metals, GUTSER GROUP, Lindab Steel AB, Purmo Group, Roba Metals, Scania, SPM, Welser Profile GmbH, ZF. The future of steel is clean!

Up, up, and into place – say hello to the caster ladle turret base! The ladle turret holds and rotates the ladles filled with molten steel into position. From there, the steel is tapped and flows out of the ladle into the caster, where it is shaped, cooled, and solidified before being rolled. The future of steel is in motion, one milestone at a time! ✓

New York Climate Week 2025 has come to an end! Our colleague Johan M. Reunanen was there to represent Stegra, and here are some of his key takeaways: ✅ Now more than ever, climate solution companies are essential to decarbonizing supply chains in every sector. ✅ There is strong interest in environmental attribute certificates (EACs) — especially after Stegra and Microsoft signed a first-of-its-kind agreement this week. The model can help drive demand for green steel while global production volumes are still ramping up. ✅ It is encouraging to see the ongoing efforts exploring new financial models to address the transition premium. This is truly a collective effort — bringing together academia, policymakers, investors, lenders, producers, and customers. Bottom line: The climate transition isn’t the future – it’s happening right now, and collaboration between business, policy, and science is key. A big thank you to everyone who hosted panels, invited us to discussions, and shared their insights during this week.
