𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗽 – 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝘂𝗽𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 As we all know and experience every day, #AI has a transformational nature for our way of working, our systems and us in organizations and as leaders of R&D units with highly skilled topflight experts such as my #Nokia Standards organization. More than 18mo back we have started our journey on AI upskilling as I strongly believe AI also stands for “All In”. It is of utmost importance to ensure we take our employees on this journey and that they receive proper upskilling opportunities. I remember a statement saying “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘧𝘧 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘈𝘐 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨”. When talking with Dr. Andreas Liebl from appliedAI Institute for Europe gGmbH he told me “𝘈𝘐 𝘶𝘱𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳-𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦.” So, what did we do? We started a comprehensive upskilling initiative and recently we reached our first finish line for an ‘All In’ organizational AI Literacy training program completion milestone. It is composed of various general modules which are relevant for our needs and available off-the-shelf, such as AI Basics, GenAI and LLMs, Data Literacy, ML Lifecycle and AI Ethics. In addition, we have created tailored content very specific to our telco industry and our mission from scratch, e.g. legal dos & don’ts, internal AI tools boosting our daily work, AI in (and for) telecommunication networks and standards. It was a heavy uplift as we significantly invested to generate the curated ones our own and link it with modules which came from AppliedAI. The most challenging part was non-technical it was how to motivate and move a big organization to undergo such training over several months e.g. participate in the live sessions, move through the various modules in due time – on top of their challenging daily work. Congrats to my organization and thanks for taking on the challenge! I'm pleased to see my team proudly sharing their course badges for “AI Citizen” received upon the completion of the training—it shows they’re embracing and endorsing their new skills with confidence – All In! But we are not stopping here and have other activities running as outlined in the pyramid picture and as I told in my recent #6G keynotes: "𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘪𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘐 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴” so Data upskilling is high on our agenda. Mythbusters: Telco Edition Our Telco industry sometimes is shaped not just by technology, but by the narratives we keep repeating.
