  • Continuing the momentum from yesterday’s EU–Western Balkans Investment Forum in Tirana, CWP Europe’s Executive Vice President Viktor Garbev joined the Energy Panel at the Palace of Congresses to present CWP’s landmark Tropoja Wind Farm - one of the key projects highlighted in our recently signed Joint Declaration of Support with the European Commission, AIDA - Albanian Investment Development Agency AIDA, and Montenegrin Investment Agency.   Moderated by Barbara B., Head of Unit for IFIs and Investments at DG ENEST, European Commission, the session brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss how targeted investments can accelerate the region’s clean energy transition and integration with the European market.   Viktor emphasized how CWP’s project in Albania is designed to perfectly complement the country’s existing energy mix, with strong wind generation during the evening hours and winter season - precisely when the system needs it most. The project will not only help cover Albania’s national consumption but also unlock opportunities for regional electricity exports, strengthening energy security across the Western Balkans.

Another step towards a net-zero future in Serbia 🌱🌍 CWP Europe is proud to announce the successful commissioning of a 6 MWp rooftop solar power plant at Henkel Serbia's Kruševac facility, developed in partnership with Resalta.  Now live, the plant is generating over 6,278 MWh of green electricity each year - covering 21% of the facility’s energy needs - and cutting CO₂ emissions by nearly 6,000 tons annually. This project marks an important milestone when it comes to financing the #energytransition. It wouldn’t have been possible without the trust and cooperation of our financing partner UniCredit Bank Serbia, who supported the project through a dedicated financing arrangement - a notable achievement for a rooftop project of this scale. While #CWP Europe’s core focus remains on developing large-scale renewable energy assets across the region, this project represents a strategic engagement in the distributed generation space, contributing directly to Serbia’s #decarbonization and energy transition efforts.

  • For the second year in a row, CWP proudly supported the Annual Summer Camp in Bajram Curri, Tropoje bringing together over 200 children from rural areas, Roma communities, and children with special needs. This year’s camp was powered by the energy of 40 incredible volunteers from Albania, the UK, the US, and Belgium. Their dedication made the programme truly special. Our CWP Tirana office took part by leading a dedicated session on Clean Energy, helping young participants explore how renewables are shaping the future. The week was filled with learning and creativity from environmental topics and EU–USA relations to arts, sports, and culture. At CWP, we believe in building long-term partnerships that deliver real value to local communities. We're proud to support initiatives that empower the next generation and foster inclusion, learning, and cross-cultural exchange.

Europe’s most resilient, independent, and cost-effective energy system will be the one that connects markets across borders and builds renewables across diverse weather zones. Yet today, energy policy is still mostly shaped at the national level, leading to fragmented planning, slower deployment, and missed opportunities. At the Green Transition Forum 5.0 in Sofia, CWP Europe's CEO Dimitar Enchev raised the need for a more connected and coordinated European approach to renewables, one that supports both competitiveness and strategic autonomy. A special highlight of the forum was Dimitar’s meeting with Prof. Daron Acemoglu, 2024 Nobel Laureate in Economics. Their conversation explored how Europe can seize its competitive edge in the age of AI, by aligning technological leadership with sustainability, economic resilience, and inclusive growth. With its unique energy profile and growing regional cooperation, Southeast Europe is not just part of the solution - it’s a driver of it. CWP Europe is proud to have been represented at GTF by Dimitar Enchev and Martin Georgiev, MBA, alongside thought leaders and policymakers from across Europe. The path to a stronger, greener Europe runs through collaboration and Southeast Europe is where that future is already being built. #GreenTransition #EnergyIndependence #StrategicAutonomy #CWP #SoutheastEurope #GTF2025 #Renewables #EnergySecurity #EUCompetitiveness

🎙️Ep183. Energy Security from the front line: Eastern Europe and Renewables #applepodcast https://lnkd.in/dhTv48S #spotify https://lnkd.in/ditGthT Laurent Segalen remembers vividly his trip to Sofia in winter 2009 when the Russians had cut the gas for Bulgaria during a -15C winter. Russia was already playing hard ball because of (guess what) a financial disagreement with Ukraine. The blackmail lasted 3 weeks, and the poor Bulgarians were cutting the trees from their equivalent of Hyde Park or Central Park not to freeze to death.    Lots of progress has been made since then, and Eastern Europe is an emerging bright spot of development for Renewables. It is not just about Economics but also about Security of Supply. Gerard Reid and Laurent bring in Dimitar Enchev, Cofounder & CEO Europe at CWP Global - a global renewable energy company, behind some of the largest projects in Southeast Europe.  CWP has been active since 2007 and developed the largest projects in Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, including Europe’s largest onshore wind farm for 10 years – a 600MW project in Romania and has now partnered with Mercuria, one of the largest energy trading houses in the world. They discuss how Eastern Europe felt the largest blunt of Russia’s Energy War and how they have been accustomed to living, surviving and thriving with a hostile and aggressive neighbour, always prompt to weaponize energy. Is Europe “bringing a knife to a gunfight” when it comes to countering Russia? We explain how opportunities have risen from this difficult environment and how the decorrelation of wind and solar between the East and West of the Continent, and a continuous integration with the global European Grid creates significant investment opportunities. It is about Transmission, Resilience, Hybridization and digitization.

» Mark W. Crandall
