Zac Cheah, the founder of Pundi AI and Pundi X, has been appointed as an Industry Fellow at the Global FinTech Institute (GFI) in Singapore. Founded by Prof David LEE Kuo Chuen 李国权 and co-chaired by Chia Hock Lai 谢福来, CFtP, ACLP and Prof Patrick Loh, GFI is a non-profit think tank that fosters collaboration among regulatory bodies, corporations, and academic institutions. Headquartered in Singapore, GFI addresses challenges in the fintech landscape through research, whitepapers, and thought leadership discussions that shape policy and industry standards. Their flagship initiatives include the Chartered FinTech Professional (CFtP) and Chartered FinTech Associate (CFtA) certifications, which equip professionals with essential skills for the evolving fintech environment. Recently, GFI announced a partnership with global crypto exchange Binance to advance fintech education and professional development. This appointment recognizes Cheah’s pioneering contributions to the fintech and blockchain industries, as well as his commitment to driving innovation in decentralized technologies. Zac Cheah co-founded Pundi X in 2017 with the mission of making blockchain technology accessible to everyday users. Under his leadership, Pundi X developed revolutionary products such as the XPOS system — the world’s first blockchain-powered point-of-sale solution. These innovations have enabled seamless cryptocurrency transactions across physical retail environments. In 2024, Zac founded Pundi AI, focusing on integrating artificial intelligence with blockchain technology. Pundi AI’s products include a decentralized data annotation platform and marketplace that aim to transform AI data into valuable assets for users. Zac’s academic background and professional experience further highlight his expertise. He holds dual master’s degrees in Computing and Security from Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Norway’s NTNU, respectively, and has served as Chief Evangelist Officer at Opera China and Chairperson of one of W3C’s Interest Group. His leadership has earned him accolades such as being named one of Singapore’s Top Ten Fintech Leaders by the Singapore Fintech Association in 2019. As an Industry Fellow at the Global Fintech Institute, Zac will contribute his advice and deep knowledge of blockchain and AI technologies to advance fintech education and innovation in Singapore and abroad. We are honored to have Zac be part of the Global Fintech Institute. His appointment underscores the growing importance of decentralized technology in shaping the future of fintech and AI.
