  • Data mining of scientific research on artificial intelligence in teaching and administration in higher education institutions: a bibliometrics analysis and recommendation for future research

    Discover Artificial Intelligence

Teaching and learning as well as administrative processes are still experiencing intensive changes with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and its diverse application opportunities in the context of higher education. Therewith, the scientific interest in the topic in general, but also specific focal points rose as well. However, there is no structured overview on AI in teaching and administration processes in higher education institutions that allows to identify major research topics and trends, and concretizing peculiarities and develops recommendations for further action. To overcome this gap, this study seeks to systematize the current scientific discourse on AI in teaching and administration in higher education institutions. This study identified an (1) imbalance in research on AI in educational and administrative contexts, (2) an imbalance in disciplines and lack of interdisciplinary research, (3) inequalities in cross-national research activities, as well as (4) neglected research topics and paths. In this way, a comparative analysis between AI usage in administration and teaching and learning processes, a systematization of the state of research, an identification of research gaps as well as further research path on AI in higher education institutions are contributed to research.

  • Cryptocurrency Market Manipulation – a Systematic Literature Review

ICIS 2021 - International Conference on Information System, Austin, USA

Cryptocurrencies, a new class of digital asset predominantly based on blockchain technologies, have gained immense popularity in recent years. Despite of advantages over traditional monetary systems such as lower transaction cost, increased transactional security, or transparency, cryptocurrencies are not free of disadvantages. The increase in popularity has also led to an increase in market manipulation in these markets. While there has been some attempt to identify and classify various…

While there has been some attempt to identify and classify various cryptocurrency market manipulation schemes, there is a distinct need for a holistic description and classification of current cryptocurrency market manipulation schemes. Therefore, based on a systematic literature review, this paper provides an overview of cryptocurrency market manipulation methods using a concept-centric approach, a characterization of these methods, and identifies market vulnerabilities. • From exploitative structures towards Data subject-inclusive personal Dara markets - A systematic literature review

ECIS 2021 - European Conference on Information systems, Marrakesh, Morocco

See https://aisel.aisnet.org/ecis2021_rp/60/ Companies that offer digital services to users for free are tempted to market their digital by-catch, personal data, on rapidly evolving personal data markets (PDMs). This paper presents a systematic literature review on PDM instruments that actively involve data subjects. First, by reviewing and classifying existing data subject-inclusive PDM instruments, six categories of PDM instruments are identified. Second, the contribution of the identified…

Second, the contribution of the identified instruments towards creating data subject-inclusive PDMs is analyzed using a six-dimensional normative ethics-based framework. The analysis outlines technical, legal, and political instruments that could shape exploitative PDMs to become more ethical and data subject-inclusive. This shall nudge scholars to develop instruments that change current market structures, thus fostering data subject-inclusivity and minimizing inequalities in PDMs. Furthermore, the paper shall guide policy makers and practitioners in setting morally adequate framework conditions to create more data subject-inclusive PDMs.

  • Studying the effects of crowdsourcing on Industry 4.0 using a text mining approach

    18th Open & User Innovation Conference (#OUI2020+1)

The ongoing digitalization and industrial revolution come along with changing work processes and new types of work organization. Subcontracted labor has often been used to bridge capacity gaps. Due to new competence requirements arising from technical and process innovations in the industrial setting crowdsourcing might provide the means to acquire and integrate these competences in a flexible, temporary way and open up new, decentralized innovation sources. Furthermore, not all required competences can be hold inside due to efficiency reasons. Thus, future-oriented companies must decide whether to systematically develop the competences of their employees by themselves or to outsource-crowdsource-value-adding processes and tasks. However, it is not clear how and to which extend crowdsourcing-based solutions can be systematically integrated into innovation and production processes. Furthermore, the diverse relationships between crowdsourcing and Industry 4.0 are not sufficiently understood for realizing entrepreneurial and societal benefits. Thus, the underlying research question is: What is the relationship between crowdsourcing and Industry 4.0 and how can synergies be levered? To Answer this question, the applied methodology combines a systematical literature review with a text mining approach for the analysis of large text bodies. The results of the study will provide a first benchmark on the frequency and type of use of crowdsourcing technologies. Moreover, this review provides a first guideline how and where to use crowdsourcing technologies in companies that are operating in the industry 4.0 sector.

  • Public Blockchain – A systematic literature review on the sustainability of consensus algorithms

ECIS 2020 - European Conference on Information systems, Digital conference edition

Blockchain has the potential to change business transactions to a major extent. Thereby, underlying consensus algorithms are the core mechanism to achieve consistency in distributed infrastructures. Their application aims for transparency and accountability in societal transactions. As a result of missing reviews holistically covering consensus algorithms, we aim to (1) identify prevalent consensus algorithms for public blockchains, and (2) address the resource perspective with a sustainability…

Blockchain has the potential to change business transactions to a major extent. Thereby, underlying consensus algorithms are the core mechanism to achieve consistency in distributed infrastructures. Their application aims for transparency and accountability in societal transactions. As a result of missing reviews holistically covering consensus algorithms, we aim to (1) identify prevalent consensus algorithms for public blockchains, and (2) address the resource perspective with a sustainability consideration, whereby we address the three spheres of sustainability. Our systematic literature review identified 33 different consensus algorithms for public blockchains. Our contribution is twofold: first, we provide a systematic summary of consensus algorithms for public blockchains derived from the scientific literature as well as real-world applications and systematize them according to their research focus; second, we assess the sustainability of consensus algorithms using a representative sample and thereby highlight the gaps in literature to address the holistic sustainability of consensus algorithms.
