Japanese beverage giant Asahi Group Holdings is marking a new phase in its #transformation journey by strengthening capabilities at its global #procurement headquarters in #Singapore. Asahi Global Procurement, which manages the company’s procurement across international markets and oversees 90% of total third-party spend, has launched three Centres of Excellence. These will: ✅ Ensure sustainability is embedded across the company’s procurement practices. ✅ Accelerate the use of digital and data-driven tools in procurement operations. ✅ Manage strategic risks when it comes to navigating complex supply chains. Established in Singapore in 2024, Asahi Global Procurement has been a launchpad for ideas, tools and collaborations with local partners and suppliers to shape the future of procurement for Asahi Group. Supply Chains Are Being Redrawn And Malaysia Is On The Map. At the UPS Penang Logistics Centre Opening Ceremony last week, I joined industry leaders to discuss how supply chains are realigning and what it means for Malaysia. Companies are adopting “China Plus”, nearshoring, and regional sourcing models to build resilience and flexibility into global trade. From 2025–2029, export growth is projected to accelerate across: 📦 ASEAN-5: +4.4% CAGR 📈 India: +3.4% 🌎 LATAM: +3.3% 🇺🇸 North America: +3.0% Meanwhile, investment sentiment toward China continues to cool with its ranking as a top investment market dropping from 53% (2020) to 34% (2024). Production is shifting toward lower-cost Asian hubs, where wages are 23% to 75% lower than China, with Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia at the forefront. Malaysia stands out for the right reasons: ✅ Strategic connectivity to global trade routes ✅ Established E&E and logistics ecosystems ✅ Strong cross-regional partnerships ✅ Skilled and adaptable talent base As supply chains regionalise, Malaysia’s role as a high-trust, high-capacity hub will only grow, bridging global trade and next-generation manufacturing.
