What an incredible Singapore Grand Prix spent hosting some of our ASEAN customers at the Marina Bay Street Circuit for an unforgettable F1 experience last weekend.    A highlight was the fireside chat with F1 legend Damon Hill, who shared fascinating insights from his championship-winning career and his perspective on how technology has revolutionized the sport since his racing days. Beyond the excitement of the race itself, we had meaningful conversations with F1 Analyst Ruth Buscombe and Sam Power about how AWS is powering F1 Insights, delivering real-time race track analysis with generative AI that giving teams unprecedented strategic insights and transforms how fans experience the sport.  Adrian De Luca also shared about the technical work that AWS does with Formula 1 & Scuderia Ferrari The parallels between F1's data-driven approach and the transformation journeys of organizations across ASEAN created fascinating discussions. Yesterday was a very big day for AWS and our customers in APJ as we launched the AWS Asia Pacific (New Zealand) Region. It is our 12th AWS Region in Asia Pacific and Japan since our first in Singapore back in 2010.   The potential for innovation in NZ is limitless, and we are committed to providing the most comprehensive and secure cloud to help drive local innovation and growth. Kiwi organisations including Datacom, Deloitte, Kiwibank, MATTR, and One NZ have already signed on to leverage the Region, and we’re excited to see the transformation we can drive together.   Amazon is investing NZ$7.5 billion into New Zealand, which will create 1,000 new jobs and contribute an estimated NZ$10.8B to the nation’s GDP over 15 years. This builds on the billions of dollars we've already invested in cloud infrastructure across APJ region, with plans to invest billions more.    To our builders, partners, and the #OneAPJ AWS team, thank you for your dedication to transforming New Zealand's digital future. I am excited about these announcements from Google Cloud last week because they open up a host of new possibilities for our enterprises and public service. On Aug 28, Google Cloud said it would bring its most powerful #Gemini models to Singapore. This means that organisations will no longer have to send data to a large language model based overseas for training or queries. Instead, the model will be built and located here, allowing organisations holding sensitive data such as economic, health and defence records that cannot be exported outside of Singapore, to develop and train AI agents. The announcements include an offering that lets the models reside on-premise. So, organisations could train and use the model with added security and low latency, even when they are not connected to the Internet. The news have focused on the public sector potential but enterprises should also take note. Private hospitals, for example, could do so much more to unlock AI's potential on confidential patient records. McDonalds has signed on to adopt the cloud provider's #edgeAI solutions for its chain of restaurants worldwide. It would be interesting to see if, and how, fast and powerful AI will deliver the fast-food giant a bigger bite of the burger. There were other news in the suite of announcements that should interest businesses, including the addition of eight consultancy partners in the #GoogleCloudTakeoff programme, and the introduction of new capabilities like Vids that will help businesses produce creative content at lower costs and fewer hours. Singapore has been busy. Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Alibaba, BHP, Accenture, PwC, and Prudential have all opened AI labs, research centres, and innovation hubs here in the last 12 months alone. The two main goals of nearly all of them are developing talent and resolving actual business issues. That’s not a coincidence. Singapore is turning into an interesting place to look at if you're considering the intersection of AI, capability-building, and real-world implementation. #AI #Singapore #DigitalInnovation #TalentDevelopment #AIEcosystem #TechLeadership
