4.1.23
contiue to receive message that a specific (random) "Outlook contact has been deleted, do I wish to delete it from Google" (when it has not). Need to cancel the sync and then the next sync completes.
I'm having this same problem too. And the app seems to be "locking up" now (i.e. not syncing and I can't access it via the system tray; have to kill the process and restart).

The "locking up" will be fixed in upcoming version. For the deletion detected, I don't have this problem, maybe you can choose "keep" once and check,if it happens again?

If you choose Keep it makes a dulicate in outlook and chanmges the file as status on Google. And it is random. picks a diff contact each time and sometimes none

I deleted all my outlook contacts and reimported them. there are 1926 contats in outlook and 1926 in Google. Randomly when syncing, it compeltes the matching. then when it gets to syncing, it shows syncing 1930. when it hits No. 1927 a dialigue opens stating "xxx has been deleted from Outlook, do i wish to delete from Google." I cancel. same thing happens next time - but a different contact is now 1937. Log attached
Same problem here. I deleted all google contacts then started sync. ContactSyncMod took many hours to repopulate google contacts, but it worked. Then the errors start again. In my case, I select "keep outlook contact" and apply to future warnings. The problem persists. Log file is attached.
two errors I receive are that a random contact no longer exists in either google or outlook and asks whether I want to remove it. The other error says that the contact has changed in google and outlook, asking which to keep. I select always keep outlook. These errors both occur when there have been no modifications to contacts by me other than the results of choices made in ContactSyncMod error dialogues.
I have the same issue. During sync GCSM will pick a seemingly random contact and declare that it has been deleted in Outlook. I checked in my Outlook contacts and could see that it still existed.
I usually click 'Keep Outlook' for all subsequent items and the sync completes.
This time I cancelled so I could get the enclosed screenshot.
I then ran GSM again and the sync completed without error.
Both runs in the enclosed log file.
I'm having the same issue, using GCSM 4.1.25 on Win10H. I deleted all Google contacts and resync'd and it worked. But since then on every sync I get between 2-10 notices"Outlook contact has been deleted, do you wish to delete from Google". I say no and then each of the contacts gets a duplicate record in Outlook. In the log each of those contacts shows a record "Updated contact from Google to Outlook".

I fundamentally Restructured the handling how and when to delete a contact, especially for SyncOptions GoogleToOutlookOnly and OutlookToGoogleOnly, will be part of 4.1.28 version, pleaes doublecheck and feedback, if it is solved (and if not, please provide me your log and problem description, incl. screenshot how your GCSM settings)

Thank you @floriwan. I installed and ran 4.1.28 and ran sync three times. Unfortunately, the problem persists. I have 2059 contacts.
I receive prompts in this order:
1. the contact has changed in google and outlook, asking which to keep. I select always keep outlook
2. contact no longer exists in either google or outlook and asks whether I want to remove it. I always say no.
A couple interesting observations:
1. It seems to be the same contacts exhibiting the prompt each time. This, after deleting all google contacts and repopulating with GCSM (see 12/24/21 above).
2. Looking for detailed sync log in windows explorer, both GOContactSync.exe and GOContactSync.pbd have date/time modified 4 hours in the future. All other GCSM files seem to have the correct time/date modified. (I did not find a detailed log in windows explorer but am including the one shown in the GCSM program)
you can find the log file (incl. debug information) in the following folder:
C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\GoContactSyncMOD
Can you please provide the log from there?
What is strange, is that you have dozens of same log messages always referencing the same Account (or did you just anonymize it?)</yourusername>
Which SyncOption have you chosen? Can you also provide a screenshot of your setting form? Maybe you can try once to use "MergeOutlookWins", because it should be moreless the same as when you choose Keep Outlook. Don't for get to check "PromptDelete", so that you don't overlook incidentally deleted contacts

Hi @floriwan, As you suspect, I did anonymize it the log file. I replaced all confidential information with the word ‘redacted’.
I did find the detailed log as you directed. I could ‘anonymize’ it but that will be a larger undertaking
Attached is the anonymized screen shot of setting form.
I ran sync again with ‘merge outlook wins’ checked. The sync ran with no prompts. The final line of the on-screen log is:
Sync complete. Synced: 377 out of 2059. Deleted: 0. Skipped: 0. Errors: 0.
except that is should not have synced 377 contacts because 377 were not changed. I ran sync again immediately with ‘merge outlook wins’ checked. Again GCSM sync'd contacts from outlook to google. But this time 347 contacts:
Sync complete. Synced: 347 out of 2059. Deleted: 0. Skipped: 0. Errors: 0.
My desire for GCSM is to allow me to make changes on my google android phone that will sync to Windows 10, outlook 365, desktop as well as the other direction. My understanding of ‘merge outlook wins’ is that it is only one way.
I have exactly the same problem. I can let you have my log file but it seems that, with so many reporting the same issue, isn't the problem with the code rather than with individual settings? Please advise.

I have been having the same problem for several months and several versions (possibly ever since version 4.1, but I'm not certain about that). Like Audrey, who started this ticket, I find the best solution is to Cancel the sync and start again. (Making a decision to keep or delete the contact causes further errors with duplicates or deletions that shouldn't be deleted.)
The latest upgrade to 4.1.28 has not fixed the problem (I am using Merge Prompt). I had to Cancel out and re-run five or six times before I got a completed sync.

As of today, this problem of supposedly deleted contacts in Outlook (when they aren't) remains in v4.1.28: Message "contact deleted in Outlook, to be deleted in Google as well?"
- answer 1: "keep Google" => contact doubled in Outlook. Sync has to be canceled, otherwise the case repeats for several (random?) contacts
- answer 2: "delete Google" => contact deleted on Google. At next run, sync asks whether to delete the contact in Outlook as well ! If one says yes, the contact is lost, otherwise it is restored
The contacts for whom this effect occurs change from one (canceled) sync to the other.

Same issue as Todd here..
Any update from the developer on this bug? It seems that it's not an isolated problem. And it's really an annoying problem...

running 4.1.29

I wonder if it is associated with the PC going to sleep or the screen saver kicking in????
I also get another error it seems that they may be related. See attached.

Any ETA for release of a version with this error being corrected and problem resolved and closed?
Error occurs for me at least 3-4 times a day.
Problem still exists under new release 4.1.29
Search for text string "Error syncing contact Rector" for example. Log file attached.

can you please attach a new logfile?
and see following post about issues having >1000 contacts https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1347/
