Activestae build status for Win32-GUi can be found here: http://code.activestate.com/ppm/Win32-GUI/ Builds are currently for v1.06, although it seems there indexer already recognises that v1.07 is available. I can't comment on the timescales for them to update builds. Indeed, thanks to KMX for this. I believe that Activestate generally pull source from CPAN and build their PPMs from that. Rob. Good job. Do you have any plans for additional functionality/fixes etc? Also, do you know how this updated version will flow down to Activestate so end users can get 32/64bit ppm packages? Hi Bert, I have found some Win32-GUI PPMs online at http://www.bribes.org/perl/ Follow the links at the bottom of the page depending on whether you have 32- or 64-bit Perl installed. I have not used these myself, but they claim to be compiled for Perl 5.16. Rob. Hi Bert, I tried to reply to your direct email to me a couple of weeks ago, but my email to your sourceforge email address bounced. Here's what I said: Links to the latest project built PPMs (for Actrivestate 5.6 qand 5.8 series) are in the Dowloands section on the website at http://perl-win32-gui.sourceforge.net/. For later Perls than this you'll need to seak elsewhere (sorry but I don't have time to maintain Win32-GUI at the moment, and no one else has stepped up to do this). I believe that Activestate build PPMs for later Activestate builds - try running your PPM command from the perl installation and searching for Win32-GUI. Others who are actively using Win32-GUI may well be able to give you more up to date information/pointers. Regards, Rob. Perl-Win32-GUI is Open Source software written and maintained by individuals. the only official "support" given is through this mailing list, and as such there is no applicable "end of product" (eg. as long as SourceForge hosts it, it will continue to exist). new versions, if any, will be available on CPAN, which is an archival network mirrored all over the world. the most practical link to look for a new version is, and will probably be for the foreseeable future: http://search.cpan.org/dist/Win32-GUI/ hope this helps... cheers, Aldo |

Hello, I'm drawing stuff in a window, then minimizing the window to the bottom part of the screen using the Windows underscore symbol. When my mouse hovers over the minimized icon, the content is still there. When I click on the icon to reopen the window, the content is gone. Simple example included below, where the top half of the window is painted green, the bottom part red. I assume it's some magic to do with dc, onEvent, save, restore etc., but I can't figure it out. In case my setup matters: Windows 7 SP1 CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW64 1.7.17(0.262/5/3) 2012-10-19 14:39 perl 5.14 Win32::GUI v1.06 (GUI.pm 1.69) Thanks, Soren #!perl use strict; use warnings; use Win32::GUI(); my $WIDTH = 400; my $HEIGHT = 600; my $win = Win32::GUI::Window->new( -name => 'win', -width => $WIDTH, -height => $HEIGHT ); $win->Show(); &make_example(); Win32::GUI::Dialog(); exit; sub make_example { my $dc = $win->GetDC; my $brush = new Win32::GUI::Brush( [32, 128, 32] ); my $old_brush = $dc->SelectObject($brush); $dc->Rectangle(0, 0, $WIDTH, $HEIGHT/2); $brush = new Win32::GUI::Brush( [178, 63, 63] ); $dc->SelectObject($brush); $dc->Rectangle(0, $HEIGHT/2, $WIDTH, $HEIGHT); $dc->SelectObject($old_brush) if defined ($old_brush); } sub win_Terminate { -1; } |

Wow, don't everybody reply at once. :-| For the record, I found a solution, or rather somebody at PerlMonks found it. Anyway, it works for me: There doesn't appear to be any way to do this with the functions provided by Win32::GUI. But you can get around it by storing the menu object as an ad-hoc property of the window object. For example: sub Main { my $Menu = Win32::GUI::MakeMenu( '&Program' => 'Program', ' > &Alpha' => { -name => 'Alpha', -onClick => \&Alpha_Select }, ' > &Beta' => { -name => 'Beta', -onClick => \&Beta_Select }, ); my $WinMain = Win32::GUI::Window->new( -name => 'Main', -menu => $Menu, ... ); $WinMain->{MyMenu} = $Menu; ... } sub Beta_Select { my($Window)=@_; $Window->{MyMenu}->{'Beta'}->Enabled(0); ... } - PF ----- Original Message ----- > From: Paul Floyd <sha...@ro...> > To: "per...@li..." <per...@li...> > Cc: > Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2013 11:28 PM > Subject: [perl-win32-gui-users] How do I get a window's Win32::GUI::Menu object? > >( sorry for the repeat -- accidentally hit send before giving it a subject) > > How do I get a window's Win32::GUI::Menu object? > > I have a > function that has the main window handle in a local variable ($Window). > I want to disable one of the items in this window's menu. > Initially, I thought this would be easy, but: > > $Window->GetMenu(); > > returns a menu HANDLE, not an object reference. (sorry for the repeat -- accidentally hit send before giving it a subject) How do I get a window's Win32::GUI::Menu object? I have a function that has the main window handle in a local variable ($Window). I want to disable one of the items in this window's menu. Initially, I thought this would be easy, but: $Window->GetMenu(); returns a menu HANDLE, not an object reference. This doesn't seem to help me -- unless there's a way to turn the handle into an object? $Window->{-menu} returns nothing. Ultimately what I'm trying to accomplish is something like: $Window->Menu->{'MyMenuItem'}->Enabled(0); Which used to work according to a VERY old message from this list (http://www.mail-archive.com/per...@li.../msg00945.html). Unfortunately, the current version of Win32::GUI doesn't appear to recognize $Window->Menu Thx, - PF |

Hi Willem, Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I did install the 5.14.3 and it appears to be working! Now I have another problem but it's related to OLE and so not the subject of this mailing list. Thanks again! Hi Richard, Thanks for the reply and the advice. SFC /scannow didn't find any issues. I've updated the run-time library to the latest 2010 sp1 and that didn't help. Next I'll try to reinstall the perl, see what happens. Hi Edward _MSVCRT_.dll is part of the Microsoft Visual C Run-time library https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows_library_files#Msvcrt.dll_and_Msvcpp.dll so my guess is that this file could be corrupted or an incompatible version. I'm not an expert when it comes to Microsoft dlls so I can only tell you what I would do if I was trying to fix this. I would take the following steps to see if any of them fixed the problem: 1) Look in Event Viewer to see if there is any more information - look for disk errors or memory errors 2) Uninstall & reinstall Perl 3) Boot into Safe mode and run a full antivirus scan 4) Run sfc /scanow (https://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/system_file_checker.mspx?mfr=true) 5) Uninstall any Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables then run Windows update to get the latest versions Someone else may know more about the specific error. Hope this is helpful and you get it sorted. Hello All, For some reason I can't find any search field to search through the prior postings... I'm trying the "hello world" from the Tutorial ( http://perl-win32-gui.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/docs.cgi?doc=tutorial-part1) - exactly as written. What happens is once I run the program from the command line, Windows 7 spits up a window with the following message "Perl Command Line Interpreter has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." had a look at the windows event viewer and didn't find anything enlightening: Faulting application name: perl.exe, version: 5.16.1.1601, time stamp: 0x504031e8 Faulting module name: MSVCRT.dll, version: 7.0.7601.17744, time stamp: 0x4eeaf722 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Google didn't help much. Would appreciate any help. Regards, Edward |
