What I do is plot (x,y) the data points that I am graphing and connecting=
=20
the points so that I have a line graph.  Since I am plotting two series o=
f=20
data I have two different colored graphs.

I have a Graphic object that I am plotting data on.  While the cursor is on 
this object I have a cross-hairs cursor.  What I would like to do is extend 
lines from the cursor position to the edges of the graph (the perimeter) 
but not have them overwrite what is plotted there and as I move the cursor 
around the lines move accordingly.

It would be the same effect as using a selection tool in any common paint 
program.

I know how to track the current mouse position and i know the values for 
the boundaries of the graph; I just don't know how to produce the effect I 
am wanting.

Has anyone ever accomplished this?  Does anyone know HOW to do it?  Any 
help would be greatly appreciated.

It's seem word-wrapping on the RichEdit is enabled when ES_MULTILINE style
is set without ES_AUTOHSCROLL.
By default, a richedit control have those 2 styles set.
You can remove ES_AUTOHSCROLL with -autohscroll => 0.

Actually, it looks like that your fixes didn't enable
word-wrapping on the RichEdit. Any ideas?

I figured that out.. But however, the script(s) created (also from other examples) don't work for
me. But.. whatever, I am not very familiar with XML. I expected some visual design tool or
something.

I was curious too, and I couldn't get it to work either.
But your first error is that you havn't read this:

Your are to copy the Gui.xml from the first example folder.

But as I said even after doing that it didn't work for me.
No errors, no nothing...

Hi,

The way I do this is to have a small program (see below) that displays the 
splash, and then performs an eval which brings the rest of the application 
into scope. In my case the splash is displayed within a second (even on a 
slow machine), and I set a timer that removes the splash 1 second after the 
main window is displayed. The build and initialisation process takes 
anywhere between 3 and 30 seconds depending on the machine and user options 
- the splash is displayed during this process.

Firstly a hearty congratulations to those involved in contributing and
releasing 0.0.670

I have a rather large GUI app that can take 20 seconds or more to load, once
turned into an executable using ActiveStates PerlApp 5.2

During this time I wish to display a splash screen, provided by a
preliminary exe, which launches the main application exe, then dies once the
main exe is visible... similar to a lot of other major applications.

I've got most of it working but can't quite get the timing to display the
splash until the main application is visible. Despite seaching the web and
many lists I can't find anyone else attempting to do this. Any assistance
appreciated, and perhaps a candidate for the examples section on the 'The
Win32GUI Documentation Project'.

Ok, what I did was I installed the PPM with 0.670 for 5.6.1 and then=20
launched TGL from the source. And the DnD didn't work, so I assumed it=20
wasn't added in this release. But then I found it in the changelog.

Maybe I failed to install 0.0.670 for some reason, I didn't check that ou=
t.=20
Maybe the new event isn't entirely backwards compatible with my home-grow=
n=20
version. I'll look into this.

If there are additional enhancements you need for TGL, maybe you could=20
send a list of them to per...@li... ?

I can only speak for myself, but it seems that TGL is a reasonably=20
significant application of Win32-GUI, and supporting it is in the best=20
interests of the Win32-GUI community.  But I have no clue what you need,=20
until you tell me, nor would anyone else.  Perhaps you've mentioned it=20
in the archives, but most of the archives are filled with questions from=20
people that needed to add "-name" to their window parameters :)  And in=20
scanning the archives looking for stuff, it would be very easy to=20
overlook something.

reliability, the profit percentage might go down, but so might the bugs=20
and security problems?  Seems like it would be a reasonable tradeoff.=20

I have regenerate html doc from source and include it in PPM distribution.
You can found it in ActiveState package index documentation.
But, dont know if documentation is very update ;o)

Yes it's a know problem.
We probably add a special Win32::GUI option for disable it.
Not yet implemented.

I think you can replace -style   => 14 by -bitmap => 0.
-bitmap theoricly take a bitmap handle but with 0 only SS_BITMAP style is
set.

For RichEdit control default style is :

        perlcs.cs.style = WS_VISIBLE | WS_CHILD | ES_MULTILINE |
ES_AUTOHSCROLL | ES_AUTOVSCROLL;
        perlcs.cs.dwExStyle = WS_EX_CLIENTEDGE;

You only need to add WS_VSCROLL, ES_LEFT and ES_READONLY.
You can use -addstyle for this or use specific option.

    WS_VSCROLL can be set with -vscroll => 1
    ES_LEFT    can be set with -align => 'left'
    ES_READONLY can be set with -readonly => 1

I think your tabstop option doesn't work because it's before -style option.
-style option ovewrite all previous style setting.

I forget to mention it in fix list but now -remstyle only remove set style.
So, you can do something like this (but not very nice) :
    -remstyle => 0xFFFFFFFF,
    -addstyle => WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | ES_LEFT | ES_MULTILINE |
ES_AUTOVSCROLL | WS_VSCROLL | ES_READONLY

I rework it, with more detail :

this release of Win32::GUI introduces many bug fix and new features the most
important being:

New :

  - add Hook/UnHook methods
  - new DateTime styles and methods
  - new RichEdit methods
  - improve GetOpenFileName / GetSaveFileName.
  - new _DropFiles Events
  - SendMessage now support a pointer to a string or a struct in LPARAM.
  - NEM KeyDown and KeyUp receive new parameter with virtual key value.
  - NEM Timer event

Bug:

  - Fix accelerator keys
  - Fix ImageList bug
  - Fix Windows XP Color
  - Fix options parsing for TextField
  - Fix -prompt support on Textfield with -pos and -size option.
  - Fix DoEvents double events
  - Fix PeekMessage warm message
  - Fix menu enabled option.

Build :
  - MinGW support
  - ActivePerl 5.005 support

I have just made a first release for Win32::GUI::XMLBuilder. You can
download the module at: -

The module depends on XML::Twig and Laurent Rocher's home made
Win32::GUI::TabFrame module.

There is minimal documentation currently but I have included a samples
directory to demonstrate some capabilities.
