Senpai's Respin of MX-Linux 23.2 with only the desktop Mate

I have updated my Respin now based on MX-Linux 23.2 version with Fluxbox to build my MX23.2-Mate Respin, I have kept all the MX-Linux tools, the only one that does not work completely is "MX Tweak" which only has the "Others" tab, although it has "Mate Tweak" and the "MX-Tour" app which only works on the official versions.

I will detail how I have done it in case it serves as a guide for others to try other "DE" or "WM" not officially supported by MX-Linux...
Once the system is upgraded you can install a basic version of Mate from "MX Install Packages" -> Popular Applications → Desktop Environment" and from there install everything you want Mate from the main repository, or you can use this command which installs everything Mate from the main repository:

sudo apt install mate-core mate-desktop-environment mate-desktop-environment-extras mate-applet-appmenu mate-applet-brisk-menu mate-applets mate-backgrounds mate-calc mate-dock-applet mate-hud mate-indicator-applet mate-media mate-menu mate-notification-daemon mate-polkit-bin mate-power-manager mate-sensors-applet mate-sensors-applet-nvidia mate-system-monitor mate-tweak mate-utils mate-window-buttons-applet mate-window-menu-applet mate-window-title-applet materia-gtk-theme mozo pluma pluma-doc eom engrampa atril caja-actions caja-admin caja-gtkhash caja-image-converter caja-open-terminal caja-rename caja-seahorse caja-sendto caja-share caja-wallpaper caja-xattr-tags python3-caja gir1.2-caja-2.0 caja-mediainfo caja-eiciel brasero ffmpegthumbnailer libgdk-pixbuf2.0-bin gstreamer1.0-tools gir1.2-matekbd-1.0 libcanberra-gtk-module libcanberra-gtk0 libcanberra-gtk3-module qt5ct mate-screensaver mate-user-guide gnome-disk-utility apt-xapian-index numix-gtk-theme numix-icon-theme numix-icon-theme-circle

At the end we reboot and from Mate we uninstall the Xfce packages, Fluxbox and unneeded programs because Mate already brings other equivalent ones...

To remove Xfce we use the command from the MX Wiki: Link

dpkg -l | grep .xfce. | awk '{print $2}' | xargs sudo apt-get purge -V --auto-remove -yy

To remove Fluxbox, Xfce remnants and programs:

sudo apt remove --purge fluxbox mx-apps-fluxbox mx-fluxbox mx-fluxbox-data mxfb-accessories mxfb-docs mxfb-goodies wmalauncher qpdfview arandr pavucontrol deadbeef mugshot feh nitrogen tint2 mc mx-idesktool mx-dockmaker gsimplecal imagemagick nomacs rofi rofi-calc lxrandr catfish featherpad gkrellm galculator file-roller grsync tumbler* thunar*

When the uninstallation finishes we do a sudo apt autoremove also uninstall "mate-hud", I reinstall mate-hud and luckybackup instead of Grsync.

Programs that I add to complete the Respin from MX Package Installer:

OFFICE: LibreOffice and Master PDF Editor 4 from "MX Package Installer → Office" (Only for 64bit ISOs, for 32bit ISOs there is no version and I installed Pdf Arranger).

THE LANGUAGE FILES TO COMPLETE THE TRANSLATIONS: After installing all the programs, from "MX Package Installer → Language".

And the rest of the programs by command line with APT:

sudo apt install thunderbird qbittorrent timeshift simple-scan gimp vlc radiotray-ng asunder strawberry lbreakout2 gnome-mahjongg brutalchess aisleriot foliate parcellite keepassxc luckybackup plank

INTERNET: Thunderbird, qBittorrent, KeepassXC.

FILE SHARING ON LAN: Warpinator (Send/receive files over LAN) and Webapp-Manager (Create browser-independent web-app web pages, creates them for both Chromiun and Firefox engine browsers) from "MX Package Installer → MX repo Test".

COPIAS/BACKAP: luckyBackup, TimeShift.

OFFICE: Foliate (e-book).

IMAGE: Simple-Scan, Gimp.

SOUND/VIDEO: VLC, Radiotray-NG, Asunder, Strawberry.

GAMES: Lbreakout2 (brick ping/pong), Gnome-Mahjongg, BrutalChess, Aisleriot (Gnome Solitaire).

OTHER: Parcellite (Clipboard manager), nobleNote ( Note manager).

ISOs can be downloaded from here: Download folder
