
Set up Directory Utility on a remote server using Directory Utility on Mac
You can use Directory Utility on your Mac to remotely set up and manage how a Mac with macOS Server installed accesses directory services.
- In the Directory Utility app  on your Mac, choose File > Connect. on your Mac, choose File > Connect.
- Enter the following connection and authentication information for the Mac with macOS Server installed that you want to configure: - Address Enter the DNS host name or IP address of the Mac with macOS Server installed you want to configure. 
- Username: Enter the user name of an administrator on the server. 
- Password: Enter the password for the user name you entered. 
 
- Click Connect. 
- Change the settings as needed in the Services and Search Policy panes. - Changes you make affect the remote server that you connected to in the previous steps. 
- Choose File > Disconnect to disconnect your remote Mac from the Mac with macOS Server installed.
