Senior journalist assaulted in Noida: Gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh snatched in Sector 62 park

Senior journalist V.S. Chandrasekar was allegedly assaulted and robbed of his gold chain worth Rs 1.50 lakh in Noida's Sector 62 on Monday evening. According to police reports, three unidentified men attacked Chandrasekar during his evening walk in a public park. A complaint has been lodged, but an FIR is yet to be registered.

NOIDA: Three unidentified men allegedly assaulted senior journalist V S Chandrasekar and snatched his gold chain while he was taking his routine evening walk at a public park in Sector 62, police said on Tuesday.The incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Monday near the journalist’s residence, authorities added.In his complaint to the police, the journalist stated that the attack occurred while he was walking along the pathway near the park’s perimeter. "Suddenly, three men attacked me from behind and pushed me to the ground. I tried to resist but failed, and they managed to break my gold chain and fled," he said.

The journalist stated in his complaint that the stolen gold chain is worth around Rs 1.50 lakh. He added that when he tried to chase the attackers, a bystander outside the park informed him that the men had escaped in an autorickshaw.He lodged a written complaint at the Sector 58 police station, requesting strict action against the culprits. A local police official said that while an FIR has not yet been registered, the complaint has been received and steps are being taken.Police personnel conducted a spot inspection on Monday evening.
During the preliminary investigation, they found that most of the CCTV cameras on the roads surrounding the park were not functional.The police continued their investigation on Tuesday to identify and apprehend the attackers.(With inputs from agencies)
