This week, we were proud to be part of the The Consumer Goods Forum Healthier Lives Coalition Steering Committee co-chaired by Oonagh Turnbull, Head of Health and Sustainable Diet Campaigns at Tesco, and Ayla ZIZ, Chief Customer Officer and SVP Commercial Europe at Danone. Members from leading global retailers and manufacturers came together to share insights and shape future strategies for the food industry to support healthier lives. The group visited our Cheshunt Extra store to see our health and pharmacy initiatives in action. Ken Murphy, Group CEO of Tesco joined for a Q&A session, sharing Tesco’s vision for health, innovation and industry collaboration. We’re proud to co-chair this coalition and work together to make healthier choices easier and more accessible for everyone. #Tesco

This national coming out day, hear from our colleague Dan-From purple velvet dresses in nursery to proudly co-chairing Tesco’s LGBTQ+ Network 🏳️🌈 From an early age, I knew I was different — and that felt okay. I didn’t know any different. I was often seen strutting around nursery in a fabulous purple velvet dress, fully embracing who I was. But as I got older, school became tough. Bullying throughout secondary school made me hide who I really was. It impacted my confidence, mental health, and self-acceptance. I buried what I’d always known to be true. There was no lightbulb moment — I’ve always known I was gay. I came out at 21 after meeting my first partner, and suddenly everything clicked. In the early 2000s, being openly gay at work felt risky. I chose to live authentically despite hearing things like: ❌ “What a waste” ❌ “Don’t be silly, you can’t be gay” ❌ “It’s just a phase” ❌ “You’ll never progress” Those comments planted seeds of doubt about my career. But joining Tesco was a turning point. I’ve never felt more embraced for who I am. Sharing my story with 300+ colleagues in 2023 was pivotal. Now, as co-chair of our LGBTQ+ Network, I’m proud to raise awareness, support others, and be the role model I needed growing up. Here are a few things that helped me thrive: 🦸🏻♂️ Stay true to yourself 💖 Do the things you love 🥰 Find your people and safe spaces 🧔🏻♂️ Embrace your uniqueness 🏳️🌈 Be authentically you 💡 Create a positive environment   Being out at work is a personal choice — everyone’s journey is different. For me, being an openly out visible leader has helped me thrive. I hope my story encourages others to feel confident in their own time and way.   #LGBTQ #InclusionMatters #AuthenticLeadership #TescoTogether #Pride365 #RoleModel #ComingOutStory #BeYou
