    The clue is in the name. Or is it… One of the hardest things about starting a business is coming up with a name. Sounds simple - but it’s not. What you call it defines what it becomes, it sets up who you are as a brand and once you’re committed, there’s no going back (at least, not without any laborious admin!) I often get asked where 7FIFTY comes from and what it actually means. It’s not written down anywhere and only when asked do I tell the story. However, I realised today, in the first session with my brilliant business coach, that you can deduce a lot about a person by asking the question… so here’s my answer: When urgently searching for a name to put at the end of an email pitching my first idea - I couldn’t find anything film related that a) wasnt taken or b) didn’t make me feel sick with cringe. Everything felt obvious and cheesey… I just happened to be reading a “Mindfulness for Cyclists” book that night, bought for me by my better half, and came across a fact that said the wheels on my bike (a standard 700c road) turn 750 rotations for every mile travelled. High volume spins = some distance travelled. Keep pedalling, and you will get there eventually. Seemed appropriate. (And I wonder what Steve Loughton MBA, CFSP deduced from that about me..) At that point, I didn’t know what the business was going to be - and I quite liked that a number kept it ambiguous enough so that it could grow into it’s own skin. And four years later, it feels like it’s very much starting to… So come on then, what’s the story behind your name? Let’s hear it.

  • "It's hospitality innit. It's exciting. It is truly the best job in the world. Trust me." Chefs' words, not ours, but they sum up how we feel about what we do, so we're stealing them! As we enter our fourth year, we are organising the archives to get ready for our next big chapter... So whilst we update our showreel, here's the one from 2022 as our first legit post (we will also get better at sharing our work!) Shout out to everyone that's supported us so far. It's been quite the ride!
