Creating communities and empowering lives across the south of England #WeAreAbri
About us
We’re Abri, a housing association based in the south of England. One of the largest in fact. We own own and manage more than 58,000 homes and various community assets, serving around 113,000 customers across the South of England. There aren’t enough homes for everyone who needs one. And we don’t think that’s right. So we build, own, look after and sell homes that people can afford. Including homes for affordable and social rent. And homes to buy through things like Shared Ownership and Help to Buy. We also have houses for market rent and sale too. And that’s not the half of it… Find out more about what we do on our website!

The Housing Secretary has reiterated his commitment to 1.5 million homes this Parliament at a roundtable with social and affordable housing sector. The current housing crisis is unacceptable - families stuck in temporary accommodation, rough sleeping doubled. The Government has secured £39bn for social and affordable homes, the biggest investment in a generation. We're backing the sector to build.

"Getting the details right and streamlining processes will help housing associations deliver more affordable homes and strengthen the wider housing sector’s ability to meet the Government’s ambitions.” - Gary Orr, our Group Chief Executive on attending the roundtable. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4o4e2Q5
Yesterday we joined social housing leaders in a roundtable with the Secretary of State for Housing, Rt Hon Steve Reed OBE MP, and the Housing Minister, Matthew Pennycook. Our Chief Executive, Kate Henderson, said: “It’s been great to meet with the new Secretary of State and hear his and the government’s ongoing commitment to delivering a generational renewal for social and affordable housing. “This summer the government laid the groundwork for these ambitions, including the largest pot of funding for affordable housing that we’ve seen in many years. “Housing associations are stepping up to do their part to end the housing crisis and are working in partnership with the government to build these sorely needed affordable homes at scale and pace.” 🔗Covered in The Mirror: https://lnkd.in/eM2qmfTf

Our cost of living survey for this year highlights both progress and continued pressure. We heard from over 3,300 customers, while fewer are reporting worsening circumstances year-on-year, essentials like food, fuel and rent remain major concerns. Key findings: 🔹Rent pressure is rising; now affecting 32% of renters, 46% of shared owners 🔹Regional differences are clear, with the South East struggling most with rent affordability 🔹Many are still relying on food banks or borrowing to get by We’re responding with targeted support, financial advice, and tailored regional action and we’ll continue to adapt as needs evolve. 🔗 bit.ly/46vJfFM

"As a learning organisation, we have a big opportunity to do better and addressing it doesn’t need to be complicated, respect and care start with small acts." Our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Project Lead, Omav Kpokpogri reflects on how the world doesn’t see the challenges minority groups face and the resilience it takes to keep moving through it. This year's #BlackHistoryMonth's theme is 'Standing Firm in Power and Pride,' which is a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the black community. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4h9WcIx
