  • What does being a mentor with Aviation in Reach actually look like? Our latest blog post, written by one of our mentors, takes you on a week-by-week journey through their experience. You'll get to read about how they brought not just flying experience, but structure, empathy and real-world insight. Over the first few weeks, her mentee: - explored sponsored pilot training schemes - researched their strengths and weaknesses for airline applications - refined their CV - completed a mock interview with somebody involved in airline recruitment - started preparing for aptitude testing 💬 "My mentee was really happy with the interview and the feedback she received. She gained confidence in her abilities as well as her interview technique" Whether you've been considering joining us as a mentor, or are thinking about applying for our next mentorship cohort, this blog post is an insightful look into what being a part of Aviation in Reach is really like. Who says women can’t fix aircraft? Bella was determined to prove her worth when she broke into the aircraft engineering industry years ago with no prior experience.    Bella's journey at HAECO began with the Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic Trainee (AMMT) programme, sparked by a job advertisement that caught her eye. Starting as a novice, she worked her way up step by step, benefitting from the programme’s structured training and support from her teammates. Today, Bella is a Licensed Aircraft Engineer and a shining example of excellence in a male-dominated field.   Bella's story is a powerful reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Her achievements inspire us to strive for excellence and embrace the unique contributions of women in engineering and aviation MRO.   Ready to start your own journey in aircraft engineering? Our AMMT programme is a fully subsidised two- to three-year initiative designed to equip you with the skills you need to become a proficient Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic in Hong Kong.  Apply now and be part of something bigger at HAECO: https://bit.ly/4l0rgeI   #HAECO #MRO #AircraftMaintenance #WomenEngineer #WomenMechanic #WomenPower

It’s been another great weekend at #RIAT2025 - I love an airshow, and catching up with friends old & new whilst promoting Aviation in Reach and watching an air display or two really isn’t a bad way to pass the time. Looking forward to 2026 already. In the meantime, AiR have an awful lot to do. Applications are open for our 2025 mentee cohort now!

  • Flypast Over London: Behind the Scenes with AiR's Mentors This year, two of our mentors played important roles in the VE Day flypast over London - one behind the scenes, helping shape and coordinate the complex plans, and one from the flight deck of the iconic Lancaster Bomber as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. • In an industry as advanced and global as aviation, why are so many still experiencing exclusion, bias and underrepresentation? We recently shared some stories from our Aviation in Reach community, and asked people to share their own. The responses were powerful, and yet not unexpected. From being called a "token" to being second-guessed by those meant to support them, these aren't one-offs. They're patterns. They're still "the norm". They're still not ok. These conversations aren't always easy - it's never nice shining a spotlight on flaws - but they are necessary. The more we share, the more we bring light to these issues and the more we can do to change them. Head to our Instagram to read more stories, and share your own experiences below ⬇️

  • To mark International Women in Engineering Day, we spoke to three engineers from our community - two from our mentor team, and Liz, the Treasurer for Aviation in Reach, about their careers, the importance of inclusion and what they want the future of the industry to look like. Their roles are spread across the sector, both military and civil, but you'll spot a fair amount of commonality! And now, they're supporting the next generation through their work with Aviation in Reach. Read their reflections here: https://lnkd.in/eMD5Jbtg Recruitment for our next cohort opens on Monday, so make sure you're following us to be the first to hear how to apply. And don't forget to like/share this post!

  • Ever considered becoming a mentor with us? Our recent visit to RAF Odiham started as a suggestion from one of our mentors - they knew that if it was something THEY were interested in, it would be something that our mentees would enjoy and benefit from. It turned out to be a great day for mentors and mentees alike! Together, they explored the Chinook helicopters in the hangar, toured the air traffic control tower and even got the opportunity to try out the Chinook simulator. But, more than that, they connected. In person. As people who love aviation and who want to see it become a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Mentors got to meet their mentees face-to-face, and mentees were inspired and shown that this is an industry in which they belong. They got to see themselves included and welcomed. A huge thank you to RAF Odiham and all the personnel who provided such an incredible experience for us. And if you want to help shape a more inclusive industry, come and join our mentor team! We're always looking for those who can share their insight and help guide talented individuals from underrepresented background towards their future aviation career. Head to our website to find out more.
