Some people have mixed feelings about founders doing cold outreach when fundraising, insisting that warm introductions is the only way to get results, but there's no doubt that treating it like any other sales process is no bad things and keeps you both organised and disciplined! Yes it's always great when founders tap into their network to get those lovely warm introductions, but there's also something to be said about doing your own research, finding funds that align with your startup and taking matters into your own hands. Ada Ventures has today published a ground-breaking piece of research that analyses the personality traits of 171 unicorn founders, identifying key personality traits that investors can look for. The report found that the most successful founders shared the following four key traits.... They are higher on... 🔥 Assertiveness - they push through their ideas and back themselves 👓 Analytical thinking - they think through problems in a structured and logical way They are lower on.... 🌊 Neuroticism - instead they are resilient and composed under pressure 📣 Inward focus - they tend instead towards inspiring others; their team, investors and customers For us at Baltic Ventures, where we invest very early on in a company's journey, these insights are really valuable to support the continual iteration of our founder screening processes before investment and to ensure we are backing diverse founders who are building game-changing businesses.
