Who knows what today is? That’s right, it’s #WorldMaritimeDay. Inaugurated by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), every year the last Thursday of September serves as an important reminder of shipping safety, maritime security, and the protection of the marine environment. This year’s theme, “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity”, aims to remind us of the essential role our ocean plays at sustaining life as we know it today. The theme also resonates strongly with global initiatives like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, at a time when sustainability matters now more than ever. As we reflect today, we are reminded of just how vulnerable our ocean actually is. That’s why at BioBright it is our mission to help shape a sustainable future, providing the maritime industry a long term, sustainable solution to help reverse pollution in our ocean. We stand proud today knowing that through our work we are supporting global efforts to transform the maritime industry, contributing to sustainable development efforts, and the protection of our ocean. What does today mean for you?

What an incredible opportunity! This Tuesday was truly unforgettable, even though my journey to the Maritime Innovation Investment Pitch Event was not easy. My flight was delayed by 5 hours, I spent 2 hours stuck on the plane without air conditioning, and by the time I arrived I was exhausted. But the excitement to be there, surrounded by 11 other brilliant companies with bold ideas to shape the future of the maritime industry, gave me all the energy I needed. A huge thank you to Richard Holdsworth and Matthew Treadwell for their support leading up to the event, to the judges Paul Dean, Steven Jones MNM FRSA FNI, Tony Foster, Claudene Sharp-Patel and Monica Kohli, OBE for their valuable insights, and to everyone who attended and made the day so engaging. Last but not least a massive thank you to the BioBright team Daria Redford, Clare Donald, Ayrton Barzasi, Luke Pawlikow, Vivian Okafor and Italo Crispim, without your dedication and hard work, this wouldn’t have been possible. I’ve learned so much from this experience and from the inspiring entrepreneurs I had the chance to share the stage with. Winning the Pitch Event 2025 with BioBright LTD is something I’ll always be proud of. Sometimes, the toughest journeys lead to the most rewarding destinations and this was one of those moments. Excited for what’s ahead and for continuing to shape a sustainable maritime future together 🌊
