It was a great evening to be at The Royal Society to celebrate Space 2075 report! 🍎 The BioOrbit team presented (under a portrait of Isaac Newton) to the public about how space will change the future of cancer treatments, bringing the #hospitaltohomeviaspace. As the discoverer of gravity, seems apt to have him as part of the team photo! 🎙️ Thank you to New Scientist for inviting me to speak alongside Irene Di Giulio and Britain's first astronaut, Helen Sharman - you'll be able to hear this as a podcast being released soon! 💎 Helen explained how she crystalised proteins on the ISS back in 1991, and now at BioOrbit we are enabling autonomous mass production of these crystals! #space2075 #madeinspace #spacemanufacturing #future

💫 🚀 🪐 Loved celebrating #WorldSpaceWeek with The Royal Society earlier this week at a very insightful #RSLates event - 2075: A Space Odyssey. A few highlights from a very busy evening... 🌟 Hearing from Prof. Sir Martin Sweeting FRS, co-chair of The Royal Society’s Space: 2075 report, on what advances we might see in the next 50 years of space exploration – and importantly, the potential implications. Think Space-based power generation, ‘Made in Space’ goods, space tourism, permanent outposts on the moon, asteroid resource extraction and possibly even human habitation on Mars. 🚀 🌟 An inspiring ‘Meet the space engineers’ panel with UK Space Agency’s Jodie Howlett; materials engineer Katrina Skerratt-Love PhD BEng(Hons) AFHEA and Helen O’Brien, lead engineer and instrument manager of the magnetometers on European Space Agency - ESA’s Solar Orbiter and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s IMAP and HelioSwarm spacecraft. I learnt a lot about the sun's magnetic field and space glass! 🌟 Meeting the spacesuit designers, space physiologists and space roboticists from King's College London and NavaSpace AS, who are pioneering AI-powered astronaut-assistive robotics with their next generation spacesuit. 🌟 And learning more about UK-based biotech BioOrbit, which is moving fast to build the world’s first pharmaceutical factory in space to develop anticancer drugs in orbit that could save lives here on Earth. As I wondered through the Royal Society, it was clear there are so many exciting developments in #spacetech at the moment, with space activity accelerating rapidly and the private sector dominating. Indeed, Space is a sector we should all be paying more attention to - a fact brought home when Sir Martin noted that within the lifetime of present-day teenagers, spaceflight will become as commonplace as commercial aviation is today. 💫

Yesterday, we gathered at the beautiful Daylesford Farm for our annual Future Fifty Forum, where we officially unveiled the second 2025 Future Fifty cohort and enjoyed a day of collaboration and fresh perspectives. Highlights included: ⭐ Greg Jackson: from startup to global player ⭐ Anne Boden & Louise Hill: scaling lessons in FinTech ⭐ Raj Kaur Khaira, William Tunstall-Pedoe FREng, Sam Stephenson & Husayn Kassai: competing in the AI era ⭐ Gordon Sanghera, Dan Vahdat & Sai Shivareddy: demystifying DeepTech ⭐ Dr Manjari Chandran-Rames, Alex Lim, Rana Yared & Sonya Iovieno scaling smarter with VC insights The forum made one thing clear: success at Series B and beyond is fundamentally about community. That’s why Future Fifty exists - to spark genuine connections that help scaling founders build their communities. The forum showed just how powerful those connections can be. A huge thank you to our partners who made this possible: HSBC Innovation Banking, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Emerald Technology, Microsoft, Evelyn Partners, S&W and Blacklane Check out our 2025 cohort on the UK's 50 tech companies to watch list: https://lnkd.in/eQPfrMqH #FutureFifty #ItTakesATechNation Carolyn Dawson | Ellie Steel | Ailsa Taylor Mealings | Johnny M. | Imogen Granger | Demi Crook | Marco De Novellis | Charlotte Harris | Rob McManus | Ella Ross Russell | Francesca Arese Lucini, PhD | Deanna Emeny

Who is the UK’s next Wayve, Monzo Bank, or Revolut? Tech Nation’s crystal ball is out once again in the form of Future Fifty 25 - a report into the exciting, high-growth UK companies tipped to become the unicorns of tomorrow. It’s an incredible reflection of Britain’s talent and potential - and proof that the next tech generation is a force to be reckoned with. We’ve correctly predicted almost a third of Britain’s unicorns so far. Let’s see if we can do it again. Here’s the list: 🧬 BioOrbit – Pharma tech making cancer treatment more accessible ⚡ Cambridge GaN Devices Ltd – Semiconductor innovation for power electronics 🚗 Carmoola – Flexible car finance platform 🏗️ Converge – AI to decarbonise and optimise concrete 🛡️ DeepCytes Cyber Labs (UK) Cyber Labs (UK) – AI forensics and anti-espionage technology ⚖️ Definely – AI legal tool for contract drafting and review 🧠 ELIXR– AI-powered platform for workplace productivity and focus 📓 Granola – AI notepad designed for back-to-back meetings 💊 Greywolf Therapeutics Therapeutics – Biotech for immunotherapy 🚚 HIVED – Sustainable parcel delivery network 💡 Metaview – AI platform for recruitment interviews and insights ☀️ Naked Energy Ltd– Solar heat & power technology for commercial buildings 🌱 Nodes & Links – AI for construction project management 🍽️ Nory – AI-driven operations platform for restaurants 🍬 @Get Nourish3d – 3D-printed personalised nutrition with AI 🌐 proSapient – Tech-enabled expert network platform ⚡ Raycast – AI productivity tool for streamlined workflows 📱 Raylo | B Corp | – Subscription platform for electronic devices 🛒 Shop Circle – AI-powered platform that acquires and scales B2B software 👩⚕️ Simple Online Healthcare – Digital health platform with clinical support 🔬 @Skin Analytics – AI-driven skin cancer diagnostics ❤️ Ultromics AI diagnostics for cardiovascular care 🤖 UnlikelyAI Trust-focused deep tech AI research 🏠 Urban Jungle Insurance – AI-powered InsurTech combating fraud ✍️ Wordsmith AI AI – Legal AI tool for in-house teams The companies in this year's cohort have raised a combined £1.4bn and employ over 2,100 people, with many already expanding internationally. We’re proud to power the Future Fifty programme with support from HSBC Innovation Banking and the Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism. It’s not your typical accelerator. Instead of webinars and workshops, we prioritise peer-to-peer learning and internationalisation. From Series B to IPO and beyond. But here’s the real test… Can the UK keep them ? At our 10 Downing Street gathering in May, founders made it clear: we need deeper domestic capital pools, faster procurement, and smarter regulation. Otherwise, we risk becoming an incubator economy , growing world-class talent, only to watch it scale elsewhere. The full report is worth a read. Check it out in the comments below.
