We were over the moon last night as we scooped two awards at the fantastic Contract Catering Magazine awards! Congratulations to our energetic and passionate Endang Gonzalez who was named Unit Hero of the Year, and Ed Cooke, our fantastic regional operations manager who picked up the Area Manager of the Year prize, both richly deserved recognition for their great work for Blue Apple and our clients! A big well done also goes to our small but magnificent design and brand team of Scott Northway and Peter Attfield who were finalists for the marketing award! Congratulations to all the other winners and inspirational people who make this industry so interesting and exciting, we had a great evening!

Marzipan is a bit like Marmite! You either love it or hate it 😍 😝 Our chef team in Southampton, who love it, enjoyed hosting a make-your-own Stollen workshop in their restaurant. They also had lots of delicious Christmas puddings available. Stollen cake is a traditional German Christmas treat that originated in Dresden in the 14th century. It's made with dried fruits, nuts, spices, and sometimes marzipan and dusted with powdered sugar to resemble snow. Did you know the oblong shape symbolises the Baby Jesus in swaddling clothes? We had a fantastic day of cookery competition yesterday as we hosted our first ever Blue Apple Chef of the Year event at the amazing Miele Experience Centre in Abingdon! Our four finalists; Tom, Thollet Damien, Duncan and Jake produced some show-stopping dishes that gave our judges Chris Ribaudo and Ruston Toms FIH a very tough decision to make, but it was Duncan's autumnal inspired menu - including some stunning presentation - of Ashridge venison with Grove Farm parsnip, black cabbage, forest mushrooms and games jus that took the win. Duncan took home the coveted trophy as well as a meal for two at a Michelin* restaurant of his choice, and will go on to represent Blue Apple at the upcoming CH&Co Chef of the Year competition.
