Bristol Temple Quarter
Community Development and Urban Planning
Transforming the heart of Bristol to unlock our city’s potential with sustainable new homes, jobs and opportunities.
About us
Bristol Temple Quarter is one of the UK's largest, most ambitious city-centre regeneration programmes. Our shared ambition is to deliver 10,000 homes and thousands of new jobs, alongside new opportunities, public space and sustainable infrastructure. The programme is managed in partnership between Bristol City Council, Homes England, Network Rail and the West of England Combined Authority. In March 2024, the partners formed the Bristol Temple Quarter Limited Liability Partnership to drive forward the comprehensive transformation of the area. Welcoming and inclusive, Bristol Temple Quarter is a place built on partnerships. Emphasising Bristol’s diversity, it fosters job creation, cultural celebration, and environmental revitalisation. Combining robust heritage with sustainable design, it sets a new standard for community-led development in the city's unique spirit.

After a competitive process where more than 100 people applied, we’re thrilled to announce the appointment of four new non-executive directors to the BTQ LLP Board. Our new directors will bring their extensive experience to bear, working alongside Lyn Garner and members from the public sector to support the delivery of thousands of new homes and jobs at #TempleQuarter. They are: Richard Meier, a masterplanning specialist who lives near Bath and is co-founder and CEO of purpose-led developer Stories. Claudette Forbes, born and brought up in St Paul's in Bristol and a former executive director at the London Development Agency. André Gibbs, a specialist in development and infrastructure financing, with extensive experience of similar large-scale regeneration schemes, including King's Cross and Brent Cross Town in London. David Biggs, former Managing Director at Network Rail Property, with non-executive experience at a Registered Social Landlord. This is an exciting time for Bristol Temple Quarter. We are soon to finish the hunt for a private sector partner, our masterplan for St Philip’s Marsh continues at pace, and the Southern Gateway goes to planning committee in November. Lyn Garner, Chair of the BTQ LLP Board, said: “I’m thrilled to have appointed such a strong group of non-executive directors at a pivotal time for Bristol Temple Quarter. They will use their experience and expertise to support the LLP team through the next stages of its development across a range of matters from finance to development to community engagement, helping us to deliver quality placemaking, new homes and new opportunities for people in the region.” The new members will join colleagues from Bristol City Council, Homes England and West of England Mayoral Combined Authority on the LLP board.

"The West is the best place to invest." A packed house (tent?) to hear Mayor Helen Godwin set our her vision for the West of England at the launch of the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority Growth Plan. Brilliant to hear the ambition for growth for everyone - for new homes, new jobs, and better transport in the region. Nowhere better to do it than the "bustling building site" of #BristolTempleQuarter and the University of Bristol's Digital Futures Institute, one year out from the official opening of the new Enterprise Campus.
