The UK's leading education provider in the field of watchmaking
About us
The British School of Watchmaking is an independent institution and member of the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program Worldwide Partnership (WOSTEP). The school looks for individuals with the ability, aptitude and desire to become the exceptional watchmakers the modern market requires. As the first school in Europe to offer both the WOSTEP 1800 Hour and WOSTEP 3000 Hour courses, students and employers alike can select the training route which best fits their needs and budget. The school opened its doors to students on 4th September 2006 and is extremely proud of the fact that all graduates since have secured employment within the watch industry upon graduation. A claim all educators would like to make but very few can. The school's success is not exclusively down to the first-rate teaching and facilities or to the exceptional WOSTEP courses taught. The school has strong links to the industry and most major brands. These links via the school's support network help ensure all teaching is relevant to the current and future needs of the UK watch industry. If you want to be a watchmaker or are an employer with training needs, get in touch as we can help.

Celebrating the graduation of our WOSTEP 3000 hr class; who recorded the highest final exam average since the School opened in 2006 - 85%. We’re now into a brand new and updated two year course, the WOSTEP Watchmaker Program, what a way to see out a course that’s been with us since the beginning! We also celebrate our first ever WOSTEP Service Watchmaker graduates, with a final exam average of 89%, including SWATCH employee Eddie with 95%, this is the second highest score ever for the one-year program at our school! A well deserved outcome for the hard work of our students and teaching team. A huge thank you to The George Daniels Educational Trust and our industry supporters for making it all possible. @fondationwostep #watchmaking #horology #careers #training

16 new students joined us in January, eight for the customer service watchmaker course as part of their CPD and eight totally new to watchmaking for the two-year watchmaker course. Everyone starts at the same point - manual dexterity. Learning basic workshop skills; sawing, filing, drilling, reading technical drawings, measuring, surface finishes and connection techniques, in preparation for the first intermediate exam in February.

Congratulations to both classes for passing their final exams. Special mention to Swatch employee Eddie for achieving the second highest ever mark for the one-year programme, and to the 3000-hr students for achieving the highest class average since we opened the doors in 2006. Special mention to their teachers James, Tom & George for these fantastic results and thank you to our supporters, without whom none of this would be possible. We look forward to welcoming 16 new students in January.

Preparing the British School of Watchmaking final exams !
Exams start tomorrow, the preparation has been completed by two industry experts. All movements have been inspected, faults inserted and numbered. On Wednesday and Thursday the students will be servicing 3 watches, 3 hand Quartz, 3 hand auto and an auto date chronograph. Friday is theory day. Next week the examiners arrive and work their way through 42 movements. All the experts and examiners have been selected by WOSTEP Switzerland so the school do not know who they are. Thank you to the adjudicators and examiners. Good luck and best wishes to you all. Gordon
