🌍 Women now make up 42% of the global workforce. Yet despite progress, barriers to equality remain. Cultural expectations, caregiving responsibilities, and limited opportunities continue to affect women disproportionately, especially in lower-paid roles. Even within advanced economies, gaps persist. Across the OECD, the average gender pay gap stands at 13.1%. Policy responses such as maternity leave and flexible working have made a difference. But with people working for longer, more attention is now turning to menopause as an important workplace issue. Some governments and employers are taking the lead, but challenges remain worldwide. BSI's latest report, 'Raising the Second Glass Ceiling', explores how standards, policies, and cultural change can work together to accelerate progress and provide practical, embedded support 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJDnT9md #BSI #SecondGlassCeiling #FutureofWork #Inclusion #GenderEquality #Menopause #WomenintheWorkplace

💡Menopause is finally becoming part of mainstream workplace policy discussions - and momentum is building. In the US, the Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women’s Health Act (2024) proposes a $275 million, five-year investment into research, education, and awareness campaigns. Advocacy groups and public figures have helped to push this forward, shining a spotlight on an issue that has too often been overlooked. While many economies already recognize the importance of paid maternity leave, menopause support has yet to reach the same level of acceptance. For businesses, this shift offers both challenges and opportunities. Organizations that act early can create more inclusive, supportive workplaces, helping to retain talent and demonstrate leadership in employee wellbeing. Our latest report, 'Raising the Second Glass Ceiling', explores how standards, policies, and cultural change can work together to accelerate progress 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJDnT9md #BSI #SecondGlassCeiling #FutureofWork #Inclusion #GenderEquality #Menopause #WomenintheWorkplace #WellbeingatWork

♻️ The circular economy offers a compelling and necessary alternative to our current linear economy of extract - make - use - discard. A model built on 🔄 restoration and regeneration, the circular economy can minimize waste and maximise value throughout the lifecycle of materials — presenting both 🌱 sustainability and 📈 commercial benefits. While the economic and environmental logic of the circular economy is compelling, its successful widespread adoption hinges on a less tangible but equally critical factor: 🔐 trust. In partnership with The Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), BSI have undertaken research to identify the barriers to, and drivers for, building trust in the circular economy. 📘 The Tipping Point: Building trust in the circular economy explores the opportunities for organizations to build trust to drive wider uptake of the circular economy and unlock the sustainability and commercial gains. 🔍 Explore the research to learn more about the key factors for building trust that can tip society towards a more circular and sustainable future: https://lnkd.in/ecmhJhtW #BSI #TheTippingPoint #Circularity #CircularEconomy #Sustainability

The Health and Global Policy Institute has also called for national-level collaboration between business, government, and academia. These efforts underline a crucial truth: supporting women at work is not just about fairness - it’s about driving economic resilience and future-ready workplaces💡 Discover more global policy developments in our new report 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJDnT9md #BSI #SecondGlassCeiling #FutureofWork #Inclusion #GenderEquality #Menopause #WomenintheWorkplace

In March 2023, Germany hosted its first parliamentary event focused on menopause – a milestone moment that recognized the medical, personal, economic, and societal impact of this stage in life. Driven by MPs Dorothee Bär and Julia Klöckner, the event highlighted how current gaps in policy and research affect not only women but the wider economy. By April 2025, these discussions had translated into policy, with menopause and women’s health formally included in the coalition agreement. Plans to increase research funding and integrate menopause into university curricula mark a significant shift in approach. This progress shows how governments can lead the way in addressing overlooked issues and demonstrates that meaningful change is possible when awareness is followed by action.
