Invest in your venue’s website if you want more event enquiries. You don’t need to spend💰💰💰 on a flashy new site. In my time working with Canvas Events, I have scoured hundreds of event venue websites. Some are great but lots are lacking simple fixes that would instantly bring in more business. Here’s five things the best ones do: 1. They have great photos. BIG ones! Photos where you can actually see stuff. Not a few little quirky polaroids that I have to get my magnifying glass out to see what’s what. They Include photos of all their spaces, empty, and in action. This helps me get a sense of the place. The cream of the crop also include a video and/or virtual tour. 2. They make it really obvious what types of events they cater for. Big scannable keywords are abundant. People skim read websites. Don’t make your potential customers have to read through a wall of text just to figure out if you are a good venue for award ceremonies or can only accommodate 25 people. They won’t. Many will just get frustrated and move on to another venue. 3. They have a really clear Call to Action. If I’m on your events page, then there should be a really clear button to press to go to the next step (usually contact you). 4. They include ‘venue hire’ in their menu and homepage. So many websites bury their ‘venue hire’ page in their footer, or worse — don’t even have a link to it at all. I’ve had to google “'venue name', venue hire” to find it many times (or get my magnifying glass out again). Make it really obvious that you offer venue hire as a service and make it easy for people to find info on it. 5. They add some personality. The best way to do that? Add your PERSONS. Yes, add your beautiful event team’s faces to your website. They are the beating heart of your events business. People book with people, not just buildings. Show them off! These practices will not only help your website convert more visitors into enquiries but they will also improve your SEO, leading to more website visitors in the first place. Or, of course, if you have a really unique venue, you could just list it on Canvas Events and your Canvas profile will do all this for you. #events #london #venuehire #webdesign #magnifyingglass
