It was a pleasure hosting Engineering Design Show (EDS) at Coventry Building Society Arena for a 2 day event. They will be back again next year on the 7th-8th October 2026.

Our wonderful venue has staged so many amazing events since it opened 20 years ago. Liz Cooper, former Marketing Director, still recalls vividly seeing Bryan Adams back in September 2005 - the very first concert to be held here. “To see that gig happen in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall was quite amazing because concerts, at that time, were quite difficult to attract,” she said. US rockers Bon Jovi performed at the arena in 2008 (and again in 2019), but for Liz, it was the appearance of four heroes from closer to home that stands out as a game-changing episode in the story of the arena’s first 20 years. “I remember we ended up with three sell out nights of Take That, Liz said. “That moment in time really was a stepping stone to getting even bigger concerts and has helped the arena to continue breaking new ground as an award-winning venue of international significance.” https://lnkd.in/eGbKHWyH

As part of our anniversary celebrations, we’ve spoken to some of the people who have played a key part in the arena’s journey and asked them about their favourite memories, biggest achievements and what continues to fill them with pride.☺️👏 Lee Corden, a former Director at PR and communications agency PLMR, grew up a stone’s throw from the arena and recalls the emotions he and others felt when the stadium began to take shape. “There was a feeling in the city that it wasn’t actually going to happen until they saw that steelwork coming out of the ground,” he said. “It was our job to show people it was happening, how it was happening and do that all through the media.” Lee added: “Seeing Coventry City’s first home game here, FA Cup quarter-finals, play-off semi-finals, Harry Styles, Take That... I have to pinch myself at times that all of that has happened on the doorstep of where I grew up. “I think that just proves what a massive asset it’s been to Coventry and the wider region.” 💡DID YOU KNOW: This was the original sledgehammer and stake that was hammered in the pitch before the arena was built, to signify where the half way line was going.
