We welcome the closure of the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA) as part of the government's wider restructure of its ethics framework. However, these reforms must go further. Our Lobbying for Good Lobbying campaign continues to call for a broader register of lobbying and comprehensive reform of the Lobbying Act to improve transparency and accountability for all those seeking to influence government. This World Mental Health Day, we are reflecting on the wellbeing of our profession, and the picture is clear - too many people in PR continue to struggle. Our most recent Mental Wellbeing Audit with the PRCA highlighted the scale of the challenge. The data shows that mental health pressures in PR are higher than the national average. The majority of professionals tell us they’ve experienced poor mental health and diagnoses of mental health conditions are steadily rising. https://lnkd.in/045ju These are not just statistics. They represent the experiences of our colleagues, peers, and friends across our industry. And they underline a very real issue that work in public relations is taking too great a toll for many. If you are a CIPR member, our confidential 24/7 mental health hotline connects you with qualified counsellors every day of the year, along with access to the Wisdom app for wellbeing support on the go. https://lnkd.in/045ju Support and resources are also publicly available through the following organisations: Mind’s workplace wellbeing guides https://lnkd.in/045ju Mental Health Foundation’s advice on supporting wellbeing at work https://lnkd.in/045ju Shout UK - a free, confidential 24/7 text service (text SHOUT to 85258) https://giveusashout.org/ NHS Every Mind Matters - personalised wellbeing plans and practical tips https://lnkd.in/045ju This World Mental Health Day, let’s take time to check in with ourselves and each other. By supporting each other and normalising conversations around mental health, we can shape a healthier future for our industry. #WorldMentalHealthDay
