The Battery Lifecycle Report 2025 is out — a 175+ slide deep dive on how batteries are used, reused, repurposed, and (eventually) recycled. We distil CES research to help decision-makers and battery owners capture value during a battery’s life, not only at the end. This edition covers 35 of the 45 applications we track, with a special focus on light EV batteries and full volume + value forecasts by pathway. Key takeaways: ✅ Value today sits upstream: exports of used EVs capture the highest, quickest returns; reuse is smaller; recycling is currently the smallest by value (still strategic). ✅Why local EoL volumes are still small: long lifetimes + high export ratios defer feedstock — downstream can’t outcompete upstream value near term. ✅Regional lens: EU/US EoL remains small this decade, Ni/Co-skewed with LFP rising; China is earlier and much larger, LFP-heavy yet with big absolute high-Ni volumes. ✅Pressure point: low EV residual values. Use circularity (effective and better usage→repair → direct reuse → repurpose → recycle) to preserve value, keep packs onshore, and protect OEM/finance economics. ✅For OEMs: prioritize in-use monetization (smart charging/V2X, service bundles, fleet peak-shaving) and targeted reuse; the biggest near-term pools sit before EoL.
