🌟 Incredible First Day at the #CommonwealthPeoplesForum ! 🌟 What an action-packed start! Our COMMONWEALTH ORGANISATION FOR SOCIAL WORK delegation was thrilled to attend the opening ceremony, led by the Hon. Fiame Naomi Mata'afa, Prime Minister of Samoa 🇼🇸, and to connect with inspiring delegates from across the Commonwealth 🌍. Our delegate-led session titled 'Resilient Commonwealth Communities: Indigenous Social Work Responses to Health and Equity Challenges' generated some robust talanoa/discussions and was a success! I spoke of the honour of hosting these #CHOGM events and the four Forums here in Samoa, showcasing the richness of our Pacific with people from across the globe. However, I also acknowledged that for many of us, our Commonwealth stories are deeply intertwined with the memories of hurt, displacement, and loss. While we celebrate our shared connections, it’s essential that we honour and remember the past. Tomorrow brings more excitement as we'll be supporting Malakai Waqa Kaitani at the #CommonwealthYouthForum, where he’ll share his powerful story to further highlight the #CommonwealthYoungCarersCharter in the Pacific context 🌊. #CommonwealthPeoplesForum #IndigenousSocialWork #ResilientCommunities #PacificSocialWork #CommonwealthFoundation #ANZASW

Our COMMONWEALTH ORGANISATION FOR SOCIAL WORK delegation had the humbling privilege to visit the Former Head of State and Prime Minister, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese, and Her Highness Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese. It was a special moment, reflecting on my time working under their leadership until the end of 2019 as well as our plans for the week ahead, alongside colleagues Associate Professor Yvonne Crichton-Hill and Malakai Waqa Kaitani.
