🌟 Empowering dreams through culinary training 🌟  Meet Schkea, a passionate individual whose love for cooking has been a driving force in her life. Despite facing challenges, her determination to pursue her dreams never wavered. Hot Bread Kitchen, a New York City-based non-profit organisation, has been instrumental in providing Schkea with the culinary training she needed to turn her passion into a meaningful career. Through the funding contribution of the Compass Group Foundation and partnership with our Restaurant Associates business in the US, Hot Bread Kitchen has supported over 250 members, including Schkea, in gaining valuable culinary skills and securing high-quality jobs across New York City. From learning knife skills and baking techniques to experiencing the joy of creating and showcasing dishes, Schkea's experience at Hot Bread Kitchen has been transformative. Today, she works in a bakery in Brooklyn, NY, and continues to grow and learn in the culinary world. 🌟 Meet Sunil – a shining example of the talent being nurtured through the Ladder Foundation – his journey is just beginning! 🌟 Sunil is a recent graduate of the Ladder Foundation’s Xcelerate Your Future programme. With the support of the Compass Group Foundation and the Compass Group UK & Ireland Skills and Early Careers team, Sunil has gained hands-on experience across a wide range of disciplines – from culinary arts and mixology to barista training and first aid. Working in hospitality opens doors to lifelong career opportunities, and these essential skills are not only building confidence but also laying a strong foundation for long-term success in the industry. Sunil’s story highlights what can happen when opportunity and ambition come together, and we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for him! Today we have announced an agreement to acquire Vermaat, a leading premium food services business in Europe, for approximately €1.5bn, subject to regulatory approval. Vermaat is a high-performing and multi-sector platform which will provide us with an even stronger foundation for growth in Europe. The exceptional Vermaat management team will join Compass on completion and will continue operating as a standalone basis, whilst leveraging the benefits of being part of our larger Group.
