International cooperation between competition authorities is important. Yesterday our Chief Executive Sarah Cardell and Executive Team welcomed President of the Autorité de la concurrence Benoît Coeuré and his senior team to the CMA's offices in London. They discussed cooperation between the UK and France on #competition enforcement matters. Conversations like this emphasise the value of our relationship with our counterparts, and help us to understand our shared priorities and experiences.
It was a pleasure hosting Benoît Coeuré and the Autorité de la concurrence in London yesterday. We had excellent discussions on a range of shared priorities - from digital markets and artificial intelligence to mergers and sustainability. I am very grateful to Benoît and his team for visiting and for such engaging dialogue. I look forward to cooperation between our two authorities continuing.

Earlier today, our Markets Director, Lucy Eyre spoke to Sky News about these proposals.

We’re proposing major reforms to tackle issues raised by pet owners as part of our investigation into the UK’s Veterinary sector. Our in-depth investigation has provisionally found that the market isn’t working as well as it should for pet owners. That’s why we’re proposing reforms aimed at transforming the consumer experience and empowering pet owners to make the best choices for them. We’ll now consult on our provisional decision before we bring any changes into place. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/euzeMB6b

We’ve referred Constellation’s purchase of Aston Barclay to an in-depth Phase 2 investigation. Both companies offer business-to-business (B2B) auctions for used vehicles. After conducting a Phase 1 merger investigation, we’re concerned the merger may reduce competition, potentially leading to higher prices and reduced choice for customers.
