  • We already know she’s brilliant — but it’s wonderful to see that recognised elsewhere!💚 A huge congratulations to our very own Dr Gracia Mwimba, nominated for Clinician of the Year at the Cannabis Industry Awards. Dr Mwimba’s compassion, expertise, and patient-focused approach truly reflect what we stand for at Curaleaf Clinic. Congratulations to all the nominees. Their professionalism and compassion are helping more people understand and accept medical cannabis as a safe, evidence-based treatment option.

Cannabis Industry Awards 2025 - Meet the Nominees!🏆 Clinician of the Year Award, Sponsored by BRITISH CANNABIS™ We're proud to announce the nominees for Clinician of the Year, recognising the doctors leading safe, evidence-based cannabis medicine prescribing across the UK. Here's what their nominators said about them: 🩺 Dr Luisa Searle: She goes above and beyond to advocate for the well-being of all UK medical cannabis patients, not just the ones under her care. She educates the wider community about medical cannabis, advocates for patients' rights, and tries in every way to make this industry one we should feel proud of. 🩺 Prof Anup Mathew Their practice reflects a deep understanding of both the pharmacological nuances and the lived realities of patients managing mental health vulnerabilities. They advocate for informed consent, fair access, ensuring that every patient encounter is grounded in dignity and clinical rigour.   🩺Dr Gracia Mwimba Gracia exemplifies clinical excellence with humanity at its heart. She has helped transform lives and celebrates these moments alongside her patients – sometimes even with a dance. Thank you, BRITISH CANNABIS™ for helping us recognize the doctors reshaping perceptions, advocating for systemic change, and setting new standards for patient care in the UK. Winners will be announced on 6 November at the Cannabis Industry Awards 2025. #CICAwards2025 #MedicalCannabis #ClinicianOfTheYear #CannabisIndustryCouncil #HealthcareInnovation #CannabisMedicine

Chronic conditions don’t just affect health — they impact every part of life, including the ability to work. Being excluded from the workforce due to long-term illness can take a serious toll on self-esteem, confidence and overall well-being. Our new research, conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Economics and Business Research, highlights the role that medical cannabis could play in helping many chronically ill people return to work. Key findings: • Around 2.8 million people in the UK are currently locked out of employment due to long-term illness. • 62% report they have exhausted all traditional treatment options. • Since 2018, private prescriptions have already contributed an estimated £283 million in Gross Value Added (GVA) to the UK economy by helping people return to work. • Wider NHS access could help add £13.3 billion to the economy over the next decade. But these opportunities can’t be realised while awareness and access remain limited. 40% of people with long-term health conditions are still unaware that medical cannabis is legally available, and one-third (33%) describe the NHS system as confusing. Yet demand for change is clear: 71% of people affected say medical cannabis should be more widely available if it can help them return to work. That’s why we’re calling for greater NHS access – with clear prescribing pathways and government-funded research – to give patients more choice and, for some, the chance to rejoin the workforce. At its heart, it’s about restoring dignity, independence, and the ability to contribute to society - in whatever way feels meaningful. Fatma, a Curaleaf Clinic patient, put it best: “As someone independent and career-driven, not being able to get out of bed and go to work made me feel as if my identity was being stripped away. I now have the ability to work, lead a team, and regain my independence. Expanding medical cannabis via the NHS would mean greater choice for more people, which can only be a good thing.” The question is no longer if access should expand – but how quickly the UK can put the right systems in place. • A new study published in PLOS Mental Health by Curaleaf Clinic researchers explores the potential role of medical cannabis in people with insomnia. The research followed patients for up to 18 months and studied changes in sleep, mental health, and quality of life. The findings add to the growing body of real-world evidence around medical cannabis, though further randomised controlled trials are needed to establish efficacy and safety. • At Curaleaf Clinic, we care for thousands of patients living with chronic pain. Over time, one message became clear: the pain they carry isn’t just physical — it’s invisible, misunderstood, and often hidden. This insight led us to dig deeper. We wanted to understand why. Our latest research revealed some troubling but important truths: 82% of people living with chronic pain feel compelled to hide their condition 45% have faced scepticism from those closest to them 1 in 5 feel completely isolated These aren’t just statistics — they’re a reflection of daily life for millions of people across the UK. And it made us think: What if we could make the invisible, visible? We partnered with artist Hayley Wall and three individuals who live with chronic pain — Fran Taylor, Ryan Swanepoel, and Mesha Moiniriad. Together, we transformed their lived experiences into three striking masks that reveal the emotional reality behind the numbers. These masks represent fear, strength, isolation, and hope — a visual expression of what so many patients often feel but rarely say. At Curaleaf Clinic, research is the foundation of everything we do. We don’t just hear what patients are telling us — we investigate it, validate it, and act on it. Our commitment to evidence-based care drives every part of our service and informs the campaigns we share. Let’s end the silence around chronic pain — and make research a tool for visibility, empathy, and progress. Head to our blog to read our research and watch the short film https://lnkd.in/e55GngJP Big thank you to our wonderful team at Third City and The Fifth.

Curaleaf International welcomes the London Drugs Commission’s landmark report calling for a more evidence-based, public health-led approach to cannabis in the UK. We agree: no one should be criminalised for personal use—especially when managing medical conditions. But decriminalisation alone isn’t enough. Over 1.8 million patients are self-medicating with illicit cannabis due to barriers like stigma, cost, and limited NHS access. As outlined in our 2024 White Paper, illicit products pose serious risks—unregulated, untested, and lacking clinical oversight. We support the Commission’s call for reform but urge policymakers to go further: enable safe access, invest in research, and regulate the market to protect patients and public health. Let’s not replace one risk with another. Reform must be thoughtful, patient-centred, and grounded in evidence. https://lnkd.in/e9XjKU9k Curaleaf Clinic Curaleaf Pharmacy Curaleaf Laboratories #CannabisReform #MedicalCannabis #PatientAccess #HealthEquity

Great to see our award-winning campaign the ‘Hidden Dangers of Illicit Cannabis’ referenced in an expose by Sky News today on illegal online drug sales via QR code stickers. The article highlights the growing prevalence of QR codes that link people directly to illegal drug suppliers, often targeting vulnerable individuals near schools or universities and bypassing traditional safeguards. Our research shows nearly 48% of the UK are unaware that medical cannabis can be legally prescribed, and “slick, colourful sites” which offer illegal online orders, next day delivery and showcase positive Google and Trustpilot reviews, only serve to add to the confusion and distrust of legitimate clinics and their patients. Dr Simon Erridge, research director at Curaleaf Clinic, featured in the article in relation to our extensive research and testing of illegal cannabis samples, where we uncovered alarming levels of contamination with mould, yeast, lead, E.coli or salmonella. At Curaleaf Clinic, we believe public education and research are key pillars of responsible healthcare. We're proud to contribute to national conversations aimed at safeguarding public health. We are heartbroken to share that Hannah Deacon died on Tuesday 6 May, surrounded by those who loved her, after a short and brutal illness. She was just 45. This devastating loss to Hannah’s beloved partner Drew, and children Alfie and Annie, is impossible to put into words. Hannah was remarkable: determined, tenacious, and fiercely compassionate. Her fight to find treatment for her son Alfie’s rare and severe epilepsy led to a breakthrough that changed his life and ultimately changed the law. She went on to transform the lives of thousands of patients and families, never stopping in her work to push for better access, better care, and a better understanding of medical cannabis. More than anything, Hannah’s most proud and important role was being a mum. Alfie and Annie were her world. She adored them. Everything she fought for came from her enduring love for them and wish to make the world kinder and fairer. Hannah was our brave, beautiful partner, daughter, sister, and friend. She made us laugh, made us think, and made us feel stronger just by being there. All of us are better for knowing her. We only wish we could have had more time. We will share more in the days ahead to honour Hannah’s life, her work, and the legacy she leaves behind.
