A new multi-million-pound defence investment from European firm MBDA is set to create hundreds of jobs in the North West. The investment, which will be used to expand the firm’s Bolton site, comes just days after the new UK-EU Security and Defence Partnership was signed, which could lead to significant opportunities for the UK’s world-leading defence industries. Backed by a modern UK Industrial Strategy, we’re creating the conditions needed for industry to thrive. UK Export Finance

In just two weeks we've achieved three new deals with major international partners: India, the US and the EU. Now, the work begins to seize the opportunities arising from these. Today, the revamped Board of Trade, led by Jonathan Reynolds MP, met for the first time. The Board's mission is clear: to supercharge UK exports, deliver targeted support for small businesses and help firms utilise the exciting export opportunities from our new and existing trade agreements. Our new deal with India, for example, will bring exciting new opportunities for gin, whisky, cosmetics and advanced machinery exports - and could increase bilateral trade by £25.5bn. Meanwhile, our deal with the US sees tariffs slashed on the likes of cars and steel. And, with a new EU agreement that cuts major barriers to businesses, we could see a much smoother flow of goods between our markets. We're at the beginning of a new chapter for British trade - now we're going to help UK exporters reap the benefits of this.

The UK is the best place in the world to build from the ground up. That was the message Baroness Poppy Gustafsson CBE, Minister for Investment, shared at The UK's Real Estate, Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) this week. There, she welcomed international investors to explore the opportunities to unlock investment and economic growth within the UK, and met major international and UK-based stakeholders. She also spoke on a Lendlease-sponsored panel, about what the UK is getting right, and areas to improve. The work is already well underway. We've: 💷 created the £28bn National Wealth Fund which is already fuelling huge new projects; ⛔️ announced radical reforms to planning and the cutting of government quango red tape; 🏭 set out our Industrial Strategy blueprint; 🌍 and secured £64bn at our International Investment Summit last autumn. There’s more to come - from the UK's modern Industrial Strategy launch to the Infrastructure and Planning Bill, we're securing the conditions needed to get more investment flowing into the UK and more projects started to fuel economic growth.
