Could your organisation benefit from the expertise of a fully-funded PhD placement? ECCI’s NERC: Natural Environment Research Council Consultancy Programme connects organisations with a PhD student to undertake meaningful research projects connected to climate change - part of The University of Edinburgh's E4 Doctoral Training Partnership. With a focus on geosciences disciplines, areas of expertise include: climate change and adaptation, extreme climate events, ecology and epidemiology, carbon capture and storage, land use and agriculture, and behaviour change. ✅ All internships are fully funded, with no cost to the host. ✅ Placements run for 10 days over a maximum of 10 weeks. ✅ All partner organisations must pre-define their own projects.  ✅ Placements will run from November 2025 - May 2026.  ✅ Placements may be conducted in parts remotely. Past host organisations span a broad range of sectors and include Scottish Land Commission, ClimateXChange, Planetary AI, Wave Energy Scotland, Royal Botanical Gardens Kew, Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage and Seawater Solutions . All past host organisations agree that the placements added value to their business and almost all would host another PhD student in the future. NEW PUBLICATION > SCIS Insights: The Social Benefits of Climate Action Series: Active Travel The Scottish Climate Intelligence Service, co-led by ECCI, has published the first of a series of briefings highlighting some of the key social benefits of local climate action that could be implemented by local authorities across Scotland. Working in collaboration with ECCI's CO-BENS Team, SCIS are working to identify ways to integrate these 'co-benefits' into the SCIS capacity-building programme for local authorities, kicking this off with a series of briefings. The short, digestible, impact-driven publications communicate the win-wins for key activity shift areas alongside the interventions associated with delivering them. In line with SCIS strategy of starting where local authorities can have the most impact, these are being published in the following order: 🚲 Active travel  (available now and attached below ⬇️) 🚗 Electric Vehicles 🚐 Public transport 🔥 Heat pumps ✅ Heat networks Fancy more background reading?
