Romance fraud is on the rise, with reported losses exceeding £106m last year, and an average loss of over £11,000, according to data from City of London Police. Our recent review highlights both the challenge of combating this complex crime and the critical role banks and other payment firms play in prevention and victim support. Speaking at the London Tech Leaders Summit, Colin Payne shared our progress so far with open finance and announced the launch of two new TechSprints. The TechSprints will focus on mortgages and SME finance, exploring how open finance and smart data can remove friction, cut costs, and create new opportunities.
