  • This is how one small adjustment made a huge difference for a charity 👇🏼 We’re proud to have helped Herne Bay Pier Trust secure a £8,528 credit on their energy bills, simply by ensuring they were correctly registered as a charity with their supplier. Before we got involved, the Trust was paying 20% VAT plus the Climate Change Levy (CCL) on their energy. By making this one straightforward adjustment, their VAT rate dropped to just 5%, putting thousands of pounds back where it counts: supporting the pier and the local community. Here’s what Sue Halfpenny, trustee at Herne Bay Pier Trust, had to say: “We have had incredible service from Green Light. Their help and advice has been invaluable and profitable as we benefited from a massive backdated credit from our energy supplier. Their ongoing advice has enabled us to come to a decision on a new contract with a new supplier, and they have more than just held our hands through this process, which has taken many months. We would highly recommend to anyone needing help with their energy contract to contact them.” This is a great example of how even small changes in energy administration can make a big difference for charities and non-profits. With the right guidance, organisations can uncover savings or credits they may not even have realised were available. If your organisation is a charity or not-for-profit, it could be worth reviewing your energy bills 💡 Our experienced team can look for these opportunities and help you navigate complex energy rules to ensure you only pay what they should. Reach out today and see how we could help your organisation save money and maximise the impact of every pound 💸

  • Some of Britain’s biggest businesses face a sharp rise in energy costs – and it’s not about wholesale prices 👀 Forecasts from Cornwall Insight suggest that large energy users not covered by Government relief schemes could see their non-commodity costs (TPCs) increase by up to £450,000 per year by 2030. These charges fund everything from transmission upgrades to new nuclear projects and are added on top of the actual wholesale electricity cost. Retailers, water utilities, and transport firms may be hit hardest, with most increases coming through standing charges rather than usage-based fees. Key points from the forecast: Grid investment could add £100,000 to annual bills from 2026, rising to £250,000 by 2030. Nuclear projects under the new RAB model, such as Sizewell C, may add £200,000 by 2026. Hydrogen subsidies, local compensation schemes, and other charges may also be added, with final details still pending. Most of these charges are fixed, meaning businesses will pay whether they use energy or not – a challenge for CFOs and energy managers planning budgets. Green Light Director Carl Warner comments: "Non commodity costs could end up making up to 60% of our final electricity costs, so managing these charges are more important than ever. It is expected suppliers will all respond differently to these increased non commodity charges so it is important suppliers are transparent in what tariffs they are offering.” Read more on Energy Live News: https://lnkd.in/em348fFW ⚡ If your business energy contract is coming up for renewal in the next 12 months, now is a great time to review, to ensure price certainty and manage these charges.
